Money Back with ShopDiscover

I hope my readers will forgive another non-Dream Dinners post, but times are tough and I can’t resist a chance to win a $50 gift card (which would by me 3 3-serving Dream Dinners…if they accepted Discover.)  How am I trying to win a $50 gift card? Through Discover’s ShopDiscover blog promotion, which is offering the first 50 blog posts describing their ShopDiscover experience with an opportunity to win. So here’s my post about my ShopDiscover experience.

Step 1: LogIn to Discover.com.
This is fairly straight-forward. All card holders can sign-up for online access (I think.)

Step 2: Click on ‘ShopDiscover’ link.
On this page, you’re able to sort through over 100 retailers who offer anywhere from 5-20% cash back on Discover Card purchases. Considering that the stores include Sears, Macy’s, Sephora, and other big names – this is a primo way to milk Discover’s Cash Back feature.

Step 3: Find the store of your choice.
There are a couple of ways that you can find the store you want. First, you can browse by category (ie. Beauty, Electronics, Home, etc.). You can also click the ‘Browse All’ option or use the ‘Browse Retailers’ drop down to view all of the participating stores at once. Finally, you can sort by percent cash back – so you could only shop the stores that give you 20% back on your purchases, if you wanted. For the record (as of right now as I’m writing this post), 6 stores give you 20% cash back, 10 offer 15% cash back, 42 offer 10% cash back, and the rest are 5%.

Step 4: Shop away!
I settled on getting some new running gear from Sports Authority. Clicking on the Sports Authority button sent me to a quick summary page that listed the Ts & Cs of the cash back, then included a button to the Sports Authority website to continue my shopping.

Step 5: Reap the rewards.
Within 8 weeks I should have ~$8.00 credited back to my account (10% of $80.) Which I can then turn around and double to $16 using the rewards program…but I’ll save that story for another blog competition.
