This weekend, I was able to sample two different dishes from the Tyson Fully Cooked Heat ‘N Eat Dinner Meats product line.  With 11 varieties to choose from, it was tough making a decision. The meat options include:

  • Beef Brisket in Fire Roasted Onion Sauce
  • Braised Beef Brisket with Mild Chili Sauce
  • Beef Steak Tips in Burgundy Sauce
  • Pork Loin in Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce
  • Pork Roast in Gravy
  • Chicken Breast Medallions in White Wine & Garlic Sauce
  • Seasoned Beef Meatloaf
  • Beef Pot Roast in Gravy
  • Beef Tips in Gravy
  • Beef Steak Tips in Bourbon Sauce
  • Maple & Brown Sugar Glazed Ham

I finally decided to try out the new Pork Loin in Sweet & Tangy BBQ Sauce and the Maple & Brown Sugar Glazed Ham. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the grocery store (in the refrigerated meat section), both varieties were sold out (a positive sign I think) so I had to fall back to my second choices of Beef Steak Tips in Bourbon Sauce and the new Braised Beef Brisket with Mild Chili Sauce.

These two replacement dishes did not disappoint. In terms of preparation, both of these meals were very easy to serve. The meats are vacuum sealed, which keeps the product fresh and since they’re packaged with the sauce, I think that probably allows opportunity for the meats to keep soaking up the flavor as well.  After cutting open the packaging, simply pour the meats into a microwave safe bowl or into an oven safe dish. You can microwave for ~4 minutes or bake at 325 for about 20 minutes.

Both dishes were eaten by taste testers ages 8-35+. Here are some of the comments and pictures of the meals.

Braised Beef Brisket with Mild Chili Sauce

Testers found that the braised beef had a very distinct chili flavor, that was very good, yet was still mild and didn’t burn the mouth. Picture cooking up a pot of chili with beef, then pulling out the beef chunks and straining the chili sauce  and you’ve just pictured this meal. Multiple testers felt that this meal was one that you could eat on a regular basis (or in mass quantities) without getting tired of the flavor.

Beef Steak Tips in Bourbon Sauce

My initial thought when I taste the steak tips was “Mmmmm.” Across the board, tasters thought that the sauce was very tasty, with bourbon flavor was strong with a hint of sweetness – similar to baked beans. The beef was very tender and flavorful and almost melted in your mouth. Many felt that this dish is more like a fine dining experience than your “average, everyday Monday night dinner.” One also commented that the sauce (of which there is plenty) was also excellent over potatoes.

Ultimately, both dishes went over extremely well. The meats came out cooked and flavorful. Tyson has lots of recipes that you can make using the Heat ‘N Eat dinners (some of which will be featured here.) When I got my meats, they were on sale for $5.99. I think each meal will “comfortably” serve 3-4 people, which works out to $2.00 or less for just the meats, which makes my wallet happy.

And now…time for….

There’s a saying that “He who plants a garden plants happiness.” For those of us without yards, but who still want to be happy, we have houseplants! I have about 9 African Violets, one false Jasmine, one aloe, and three plants that I’ve forgotten the names of. I love having plants in the house because…
