Diversity on Demand

More and more our world, our cities, our communities are becoming more and more diverse. Kicking off this month, Black History Month, and wrapping up with Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 – October 15, digital cable platforms, like On Demand, are featuring special programming that celebrates the diverse cultures around us with Diversity on Demand, a new initiative to support multi-culturalism.

“The cable industry recognizes its responsibility and privilege to use the reach, power and influence of television, Internet and mobile apps to spotlight important issues,” said Char Beales, president and CEO, Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM).

To kick-off  Diversity On Demand, cable channels are celebrating Black History Month, providing digital cable customers access to shows about African American history, food, and more. Several biographies on “famous” figures, such as Bill Cosby, Thurgood Marshall, and others will also be available on Video On Demand through mid-March. You can find Diversity on Demand programming on many of your favorite cable channels, including Discovery, HBO, and NBC.

Make sure you visit the Diversity on Demand Facebook Page for more show and programming details, and participating channels. You’ll also find more activities, links to trailers, contests, and ways to interact with other Diversity on Demands fans.

  • Diversity is so important because awareness is the first step to acceptance. I think that it’s important for people to realize that diversity has multiple levels, not just race: religion, sexual orientation, economic status, etc. Coexistence is what we should aim for. There will always be differences in opinion, but we need to respect each other no matter what!
