Are you looking for a great gift for relatives or for people you will be visiting for the holidays? I know from personal experience that one of the best gifts to give is food. And you get bonus points if it’s good, gourmet food, like what you can purchase from Hickory Farms. I remember there used to be a Hickory Farms booth in one of the shopping malls I used to visit where I would regularly pick up their sausage or their colorful meltaway mints. Those gifts always got Ooohs! and Aaahs!

The Review

The title of the Hickory Farms Party Planner Gift Box is perfect – it is just the sort of thing that will help you host, or will help someone else host a party that has delicious gourmet appetizers. The gift box contains three different sausages (two beef and one turkey), two mustards (cranberry and sweet hot), an original cheese ball, four cheese blends (Creamy Swiss, Big Barn Cheddar, Smoked Cheddar, and Mission Jack,) a box of Sesame, Caraway & Sea Salt Crackers, and eight strawberry candies. That is a serious box of perfect sausage and cheese appetizers with a flavor for everyone! (Note that not all of the items included in the box are shown in the picture below. SOMEONE broke into some of the goods and started eating before I could take the picture.)

But I have to warn you – as the hostess serving these sausages and cheeses, there is as very high percentage that you will eat a lot of cheese and sausage before they even makes it to the serving platter. As soon as I cut open the Beef Summer Sausage, the delicious sausage smell wafted up to my nose and I simply had to eat some. I mean… I just had to. And it was good. A perfect blend of meaty flavors followed by a mild spiciness. The crackers were almost savory and had the perfect crispiness. The cheeses were smooth and creamy.

Combine them all into one bite and it’s appetizer heaven. Meaty, spicy, cheese, crispy. If I could change just one thing, it would be to have more of the Sesame, Caraway & Sea Salt Crackers. Those are just too good to have just one box.

Overall, if you want to serve a gourmet sausage, cheese, and cracker spread at your party (or ensure that the party you are going to is serving one) then I definitely recommend the Hickory Farms Party Planner Gift Box.
