I own an 11 year old collie mix named Stella. She joined our family when she was 8 weeks old. My husband and I were celebrating our first wedding anniversary, and went to the mall to purchase a vacuum. On our way to Sears, we passed a pet store featuring rescued puppies up for adoption. A puppy was not part of our plan, not even on the radar. She had been clearanced out from $49.95 to $39.95 (no joke) and was very sickly. My husband immediately felt in love with her and we left the mall with way more than we’d bargained for that day, haha. Several hundred dollars in vet bills later and she was healthy as a horse. She’s been a very valued family member, at one point even chasing a lurking intruder away from my little girls’ bedroom window in the middle of the night (terrifying!!!). She’s now arthritic and diabetic and feeling pretty rough. We have two new puppies joining our household in a month, but Stella will always be the world’s best family dog EVER.

My mom’s dog likes to sit on the couch like a human (upright and everything) and fall asleep. Well one time we took a picture of him and and put it side by side with a picture of my dad sleeping on the couch the same way. We glued them together and on the bottom we wrote “Like owner, like dog”. It was the cutest thing ever to us for some reason. I think we still have that picture somewhere lol
