As of January 1, my county has implemented a $0.05 bag tax for plastic grocery bags. While I’ve been trying to kick the plastic bag habit, having to fork over the change for a bag is the final push needed to help me remember my reusable grocery bags. One of the things I’ve noticed, though, is that these grocery bags are pretty bulk and are rather unwieldy to carry around. Enter Snapsac – the perfect bag solution for having large (or small) bags when you need them.
About SnapSac
The Review
Sometimes good things really do come in small packages. In the case of Snapsac, good bags come in small folded packages that open into huge tote bags. Snapsacs come in several sizes, ranging from portable LunchTotes to MegaTotes that almost look like they’d carry the kitchen sink. The SnapSac Tote Bundle includes three sizes – PetiteTote, SuperTote, and MegaTote. There are two different color batterns to choose from – the Pops, which have grays, blues, and bright yellows and the Neutrals – which are shades of grays, blues, and browns.

When you get your SnapSac bags, they’ll all be neatly folded into rectangles that easily fit into a purse or the back of the car seat. When you’re in need of some extra bag storage, just pop open the flap and open up your bag. Each bag opens into a sizeable bag (for the Tote Bundle, the PetiteTote is 18″ wide, the SuperTote is 24″ wide and the MegaTote is 36″ wide). Inside each bag is a pocket you can use to store smaller objects. Here are the PetiteTote and the SuperTote opened up. They’re quite large and the Mega is HUGE – well worth the “MegaTote” title.

When carrying your SnapSac, you can use the snapped flap to close the bag at the top or to close an inner pockets on the bag, helping to ensure that things don’t fall out.
In addition to being reusable and machine washable, one of the biggest benefits to me is that all of the bags fold conveniently back into manageable sizes. Simply fold in the left side, fold in the right side, tuck in the handles, then fold up the bottom, using the snapped flap to secure it into a portable envelope shape.
If you’d like to pick us SnapSacs, they are available online at the SnapSac store or online Amazon starting at $2.99.
