  • It was cold this morning. As I was walking outside, I actually thought that it could snow, and whenever this West Coast girl gets that cold, all I want to do is drink something HOT. There a few drinks that I usually warm-up with, but sometimes you need a little of variety. I recently came across a couple of recipes using Crystal Light – one of my favorite low-calorie drink mixes.

    About Crystal Light

Crystal Light drink recipes are quick and easy to make with just five ingredients or less. So instead of sharing the same old cocktails with your guests, liven things up. With most Crystal Light flavors containing as few as five calories per serving, Crystal Light drink mix offers all of the holiday cheer with none of guilt.

    The Review

I’m not always a big tea drinker. Growing up part Asian, I’m more accustomed to Jasmine tea than I am to Iced Tea – I just never acquired the taste. Well, one way to get me to drink iced tea is by serving Crystal Light Hot Spiced Tea. The recipe calls for equal parts of Crystal Light Iced Tea – Natural Lemon and Crystal Light Lemonade, mixed with some of the spices traditionally used in spiced cider.

To make this recipe, I put all of the ingredients into a plastic container and then shook it to mix the powders together. To serve, simply mix the powder mix with hot water and in a matter of seconds you have a piping hot cup of hot spiced tea. I was amazed at how delicious the tea was. It had the spiciness of cider, with a hint of lemon, and a warmth that permeates your stomach. Not bad for a drink that is around 5 calories per serving. Note that as you’re drinking the hot spiced tea, some of the spices may sink to the bottom of your mug.

If you’re more of a peach fan, you can also try their recipe for Mulled Peach Tea Punch. I haven’t tried that recipe yet but with the mixture of peaches and apples, it looks quite yummy.

This is the first time that I’ve considered using Crystal Light for hot beverages during the winter and I’m impressed with the tasty drinks and warm flavors they are able to provide. These drinks make Crystal Light more than just a cool summertime beverage – they can now be viable options to create tasty drinks during the cold weather as well.
