I love a good cup of coffee, but sometimes heading out to a coffee shop isn’t convenient. Fortunately, with my trusty Keurig and Ekobrew cup, I’m able to enjoy Starbucks signature coffees, like the seasonal Starbucks Holiday Blend, in the comfort of my own home. The only thing that was missing were the tempting pastries that often call out to me from behind the glass counter. While it might be good for my waistline, sometimes you want a little something to enjoy with your hot cup of coffee. At Walmart, Starbucks has create some delicious pairings with helpful tips for which pastries should be enjoyed with their popular coffees.
The Bakery at Walmart is a wonderful place to find pastries to pair with your coffee. From cinnamon rolls to muffins to cookies, you can find an assortment of quality baked goods that could rival any coffee shop counter.
After picking up the Starbucks Holiday Blend coffee and a box of The Bakery at Walmart’s Cinnamon Rolls with White Icing, I headed home to create a very special at-home “coffee house experience.”
I love brewing Starbucks at home. Not only is it a little more affordable, but it’s also much more convenient than driving into town. We’ve been enjoying the Starbucks K-Cups but also make heavy use of the Ekobrew fillable K-cup so we can use traditional ground coffee in the Keurig as well. I filled the Ekobrew with Starbucks Holiday Blend and hit “brew.” In a matter of minutes the wonderful aroma of the Holiday Blend began to fill the kitchen. It has a slightly earthy fragrance, probably from the pumpkin notes that are infused in the coffee.
By itself, Starbucks Holiday Blend is a good cup of coffee. It is very smooth and I could taste a hint of nutmeg. I took a bite of the cinnamon rolls from The Bakery at Walmart and oh my goodness it almost tastes like another coffee. The cinnamon flavor leapt through and made it a bit spicier with a little more sweetness. It was amazing how the pairing of the two really brought out the flavor of both the Starbucks Holiday Blend and the cinnamon rolls. Each by themselves was good, but combine them together and wowza! You’re truly able to capture the coffee house experience – from cup to pastry – in your own home.
I brewed up some more Starbucks Holiday Blend coffee and served it with what was left of the cinnamon rolls as a special morning treat. Not only was it a hit, it was a big hit – receiving reviews on the flavor and also comments about how it really warms the spirit on a cold winter day. It felt like home.
The next time you’re heading out to Walmart, make sure you check out their bakery for more delicious pairing ideas. You can also pick up a bag of Starbucks Holiday Blend and some cinnamon rolls as a great holiday gift for your next family gathering. (It makes breakfast a breeze!)
