  • Can I simply say, that I LOVE cake. Yellow cake, angel food cake, birthday cake, chocolate cake, cup cakes – virtually all cakes I will eat and love. For the past few months I’ve been hearing about Bake Me a Wish! Cakes on other blogs, seeing them on Twitter and and Facebook. I even watched videos of their Father’s Day promotion, where they sacrificed cakes to be smashed into the faces of dad’s across the country. And while I thought the videos were hilarious, there was a part of me the felt a pang of sadness. Sadness that those cakes had to be sacrificed into faces instead of into my stomach.

Needless to say, when I actually WON a Bake Me a Wish! cake in their recent Twitter party, I was utterly ecstatic. I spent the next two days telling all of my friends, “I won a cake! I won a cake!” I didn’t know what kind of cake I’d won – I had hoped it would be something chocolate-y, but ultimately, it was up to Bake Me a Wish! to choose from one of their over 20 different flavor cakes. I eagerly awaited the arrival of the cake, and when it arrived on fine Wednesday evening, I tore open the box.

The cake was delivered in a box that had Styrofoam blocks keeping the cake safely in place. There was an ice pack on top of a cardboard shell to help keep the contents cool. Inside the cardboard shell was a golden box with stripes that seemed to scream, “CAKE!” at me. Once you take off the cover of the box, inside you’ll see your delicious cake, carefully wrapped in plastic, with a cardboard base and ring to help prevent the cake from getting crushed.

I knew as soon as I took off the lid that this cake would be right up my alley. They had sent me a Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake. The Bake Me a Wish! website describes it as:

Our moist & fudgy brownie cake goes through three chocolate “passes” before it’s “done”: first it’s enrobed in rich chocolate, then it gets completely blanketed with a shower of dark chocolate shaves; last, the cake is finished with milk and dark chocolate glazes drizzled all over and the Belgian chocolate plaque of your choice; for a brownie dessert that’s over-the-top-triple-delicious!

Bake Me a Wish! CakeI was completely looking forward to eating this cake. As many of you know, I’ve been trying to watch what I eat…except on weekends, which is when my friends and I decided that I could splurge a little and eat some foods that are extra delectable. A Bake Me a Wish! Cake definitely falls under that category. It was hard enough waiting until the weekend to try the cake, but somehow I was able to hold off from tearing open the whole things so that I could enjoy it with my fellow testers.

Last Sunday night, I carefully took off that final layer of wrapping that separated that cake from my mouth. It smelled delicious. I love the chocolate flakes on the sides for extra dose of chocolate. You can also see the milk an dark chocolate drizzles on the top, which blended both the sweetness of the milk and the slight bitterness of the dark chocolates.

    Bake Me a Wish!

Finally, there was just one picture that needed to be taken in order for me to finally start enjoying the cake. And that picture is the one that shows the moistness and the texture of the cake. Since this is a brownie cake, I expected the cake to be a little denser – more like a brownie and less like a cake. My guess was pretty accurate.

    Bake Me a Wish!

After the finally shot, we dug in. If you are a chocolate lover, the Bake Me a Wish! Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake will satisfy you to your core. The texture is more like a brownie than a cake, which seemed to make the chocolate flavor even richer. You could clearly get the flavors of the different types of chocolate drizzle. The cake was moist, perfectly baked, and utterly blissful. One tester declared that every single bite of cake hit his sweet tooth. Another tester, who isn’t even a fan of chocolate cake, thought it was good. I do think that you need to enjoy both milk and dark chocolates to really appreciate the rich blend of flavors of this cake. Make sure you have a glass of very cold milk next to you when you eat this cake.
