The Review
If you read last year’s review of Softlips, then you’ll recall that some of the things I appreciate the most about Softlips is the texture of the lip balm itself. It is light, moisturizes well, and doesn’t clump up at the sides or edges of your mouth over time. Since none of the lip balm uberness has changed, I thought I’d describe the flavors a little bit more for you.
Mint (with a hint of vanilla): The mint flavor is pretty strong and reminds me of peppermint. The vanilla is definitely a lighter scent that adds a touch of sweetness to the lip balm.
Sugar Plum: One sniff reminds me totally of fresh berries. It’ll probably be more popular with younger girls who are in their berry phase (there was a time where everything I used was strawberry scented.)
Sugar Cookie: A good bakery will smell just like Sugar Cookie. This one smells like cookies that have just been pulled out of the oven.
Sugar & Spice (and everything nice): Picture a piping hot cup of mulled cider, filled with all spice and cloves, and that is what Sugar & Spice smells like to me. It totally captures the scent of fall. The more I smell it, the more I think it smells like cloves.
Winter Mint: This is more of a purer mint (I think) that is more minty than the Mint with vanilla. It’s not too sweet which makes it a guy-friendly flavor.
And speaking of guy-friendly flavors, one recommendation I have for Softlips is to create a man-version of the Softlips tube. Right now the tubes are cute and slender, perfect for pockets or purses. However, most men do not want dainty lip balm tubes. They want something sturdier and bulkier so I’d definitely recommend a “for men” lip balm tube.
If you want to buy the new Holidays 5-pack of the Softlips winter flavors, the only place you can get it is from the Softlips online store. Remember that these flavors are seasonal and are only out during the holiday/winter season, so if you want any of these flavors year round (like the sugar plum berry) then you’ll need to stock up now. The 5-pack is on sale for $9.99 and they are currently running a holiday special of $0.99 for shipping.
