  • lynda.com online video trainingA few weeks ago, we introduced to you to lynda.com, an innovative and comprehensive service the offers video training on a variety of topics, from PhotoShop to HTML5 to Twitter to Microsoft Word. Since then, we’ve continued to watch their online training videos to help learn new coding tricks as well as to brush up on old ones. I’ve also been exploring their Social Media training videos.

As a blogger, using our social media networks effectively is an important part of building our brand and growing. Lynda offers training on “Google+ for Business,” “Social Media Marketing with Facebook and Twitter”, as well as “Up and Running with Pinterest.” Lynda offers training at a variety of skill levels, from Beginner to Expert, so you can find the training level you are most comfortable with. If you already have a background and you’re looking to dig into one particular thing, you can use the search bar to see if they have a training video on that subject. For example, if you have a new macro lens for your camera, you can search for that and they’ll pop up with a variety of courses that cover the macro lens.

One of the things I really enjoy about lynda.com training is that all of the videos are well executed. The “teachers” are clearly experts in their field and they explain everything in a manner that is clear and easily understood. I never felt like “huh?” while I was watching. When I was in college, I often felt myself dozing off during lectures – that never happens while watching a lynda.com lesson. I’m engaged and love the thorough explanation and training that is provided in the videos.

If you’re thinking about joining me here in the blogging world, but don’t know how or where to start, lynda.com also offers a beginner series in WordPress Essentail Training – 6 hours and 38 minutes of training covering everything from installing WordPress to using widgets. For the computer/web based training, the videos are “real” training – as in you will watch the person do what they say they are doing. It isn’t someone talking theoretical – it’s practical use, which I find is much more helpful. They show you how it’s done, not just tell you how it’s done.

I have learned so much from my lynda.com subscription and will continue to use it to help grow and develop my skill set. Whether you’re a blogger, amateur photog, an entrepreneur, or anyone else who uses the computer, I encourage you to discover how you can learn more with lynda.com online video training. With 1,478 courses, there’s certainly a lot we can learn! Make sure you check out the free video tutorials that offer a taste of everything lynda.com has to offer.

Music is a great tool when it comes to working out. I’ve used to keep track of time (without a watch) as well as used it as a motivator to just keep going. Whether running on the streets or on a treadmill, listening to my iPod helps that last mile fly by much quicker. All… Continue reading →

We’ve all heard stories about schools having to cut programs due to lack of funds. Fortunately, there are ways to earn extra cash for your local schools through the General Mills Box Tops for Education program. Typically, you need to cut out the little Box Top coupon on the box and then give them to… Continue reading →

Dust can actually be somewhat pretty sometimes. Like the moment the sun hits the window and the little particles seem to be floating in a pool of light. But that might be the only time and in general, dust isn’t fun – especially if you have TVs, monitors, or digital electronic items with screens that… Continue reading →

As a blogger, I wear many hats – from writer to photographer to designer and coder. While I went to school for a few of these skill sets, times have changed since 2001. Technology is changing and it’s important for me to stay up-to-date on whatever I can. Sure, there are $2,000 classes you can… Continue reading →
