Many of us are familiar with the Johnson’s baby care products. Whether it’s their no-tear shampoo or their moisturizing baby oil – people have used Johnson’s products to powder butts and soothe skin for over 100 years. Some people might think that their time with Johnson’s products would decline once they graduate from diapers. However with a fresh look at their product line, you’ll soon discover that they have several new products to help keep both yours and your baby’s skin healthy and nourished.

Johnson’s Baby Oil
Johnson's Baby OilThis was the product I was most familiar with from baby days. I might not remember it when I was a baby, but I’ve always known that Johnson’s Baby Oil was a gentle way to moisturize and help protect the skin from dryness. What I didn’t know was that Johnson’s has since introduced a Lavender and an Aloe Vera & Vitamin E varieties of Baby Oil. This mineral oil can also be used to help calm and soothe babies (or adults) during massages.

Johnson’s Baby Creamy Oils
Johnson’s new Baby Creamy Oils come in two varieties – Aloe Vera & Vitamin E and Cocoa & Shea Butter. They are advertised as having a “non-greasy rich, creamy texture” which I found to be absolutely true. The baby creamy oil doesn’t leave an oily or greasy feeling at all. Generally, lotion that moisturizes as well as this lotion does leaves a residue of oiliness or greasiness, but this one leaves your skin feeling clean while still providing incredible moisture. When you put it on, you’ll find that your skin doesn’t look oily or shiny- it looks dry (as in not wet,_ yet is still moisturized. When you rub your hands after applying the lotion, it almost feels as if you have a small amount of the baby powder on your hands, keeping them dry and smooth. Both testers thought that this was hands down the best lotion ever used.

Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel
If you like the moisturizing properties of mineral oil, but want something that is a little thicker, then Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel is the product to try. It comes in Shea & Cocoa Butter, Aloe Vera & Vitamin E, and Chamomiles & Multi-Vitamin Complex varieties. The gel is thick, yet still oily enough to glide onto your skin easily. This will give your legs a slight glint in the light, but they won’t look covered in oil. According to the packaging, it “locks in up to 10 times more moisture on wet skin than an ordinary lotion can on dry skin.” The Shea & Cocoa Butter smells exactly as it sounds, so don’t be surprised if you want to head to the beach after putting the gel on. It’s recommended to apply onto wet skin for adults, then pat dry. For babies, you can use it daily to help keep the skin feeling soft while locking in moisture.

Johnson’s Baby Powder
In addition to the original scent, Johnson’s has also introduced Cool Cucumber Melon and Calming Lavender & Chamomile. I love the silky feeling that the baby powder leaves on my skin. It makes it feel dry and incredibly smooth. If you’re feeling a little funky after a long day and need a quick refresh, you can smooth some Baby Powder onto your body to help absorb moisture and keep you dry. I did a quick refresh with the Cooling Cucumber Melon Powder and liked that it made me feel (and smell) clean without having an overpowering smell. I think it goes without saying that since the powder is white, it’s best to use when you’re wearing light colored clothing.  If using this for babies, then it can help absorb moisture after baths and between diaper changes.

All of these Johnson’s Baby Care products are available in stores nationwide, with prices ranging from $3.29-$3.99. With dermatologist and allergy-tested products that are gentle, yet effective, Johnson’s is (in my mind) a leader in keeping skin healthy and moisturized from infancy to adulthood. The Easter Bunny is coming. In a few short weeks, the only mammal to lay eggs (other than the platypus) will travel from house to house, hiding his brightly colored eggs in various places around yards or inside homes for children to find Easter Sunday (or for adults to find a few weeks after Easter [...]

As many times as I’d like to say that “As I kid, I always drew in the lines,” the truth is there was a time when I didn’t always. There are still Christmas decorations that my parents proudly put on our fake Christmas tree that are proof enough of my “outside-of-the-line” creative process as a [...]

The hours before my brother X and I would have to run to the dentist, we would each chew up one of those pink tablets that’s supposed to show you spots that you miss when you brush your teeth. We would then diligently brush, brush, brush until all of the pink stuff on our teeth [...]

I think I led a somewhat deprived childhood. In all of my memories, I can only recall ever having ONE edible candy necklace. Chalk it up to parents who didn’t want to let me eat too much candy (to which my healthy mouth thanks them for.) So I couldn’t help but feel a little bit [...]
