  • We love to grill. While I now have an indoor gas grill that allows me to grill up chicken skewers, hamburgers, or whatever else we want to grill-up year-round, I didn’t always have an indoor grill. For grill-lovers, that means come rain, come snow, come sleet, you find a way, any way to grill. Even if that means standing outside while it’s snowing with an umbrella to keep the snow off the grill. Yes, been there – done that. And the food tasted delicious.

As winter draws to a close and the warmer months approach, that means more time outside with the friends, and food, you love. To help get your outdoor living space ready for a delicious summer, here are a few essential items for outdoor grilling.

    1. A grill.

Kenmore Elite Grill Available at Sears

This is clearly an essential for grilling. Whether it’s a basic grill or the new Kenmore Elite Grill that’s debuting at Sears this summer, find the grill that fits your level of grilling comfort and how you plan to use the grill. If you’re keeping it simple, you can get a simple charcoal grill. If you’re going gourmet with plans to rival an Iron Chef, amp it up to a grill that has a few more bells and whistles. The Kenmore Elite Grill has three burners, 692 sq. inches of cooking space and a warming rack.

    2. Outdoor furniture

Agio Bella Luna 7pc Lighted Dining Set Brown

If you’re cooking outside, then the weather is probably quite nice. If the weather is nice, then you’ll likely want to eat outside. You can dine in comfort – both day and night – with the new lighted patio furniture found exclusively at Sears. Lighted furniture? Yup – the Halley collection from La-Z-Boy and the Bella Luna collection from Agio have built in lights to add an extra touch of ambiance to your outdoor living space. Comfy and stylish? You betcha.

    3. Grilling Tools

Kenmore 17-Piece Barbecue Set with Digital Fork Thermometer Brown

Just like an artist has a brush and paint, a griller has his own set of tools. There are special prongs, tongs and brushes you can use while you grill. Pick up a nice grilling cooking tool set to help unlock your inner griller. Make sure whatever set you get includes at a minimum a grill brush (for cleaning), spatula (a metal one that won’t melt on your grill), and tongs (to help flip your meat, veggies, etc.)

    4. Delicious Seasoning and/or Marinade
While some people may think that you can just throw some meat on the grill and call it a day, I fall into the camp that says you should season, season, season. Even if it’s just with basic salt and pepper, seasoning your meat and veggies can take those grill items from good to totally amazing. I’m partial to marinating my meat and then basting it while it grills. You can find a variety of rubs, seasonings, and marinades at your local grocery store to kick start your grilling experience.

I find myself doing more and more shopping online. I find that I can usually find better prices and better deals that way. I don’t have to find parking, stand in lines, or deal with crowds. I think it’s an easier and more stress-free way to shop. Patchwork Road, a meaningful marketplace, is introducing a… Continue reading →

    Adding Warmth with Area Rugs

    Area Rug
One of the things I learned when moving from a mostly carpeted house to a mostly hardwood house is that a rug can make a big difference. A well placed, and well selected area rug can not only add a little bit of cushion for the feet, but it can also add some warmth and… Continue reading →

The joys of car ownership is somewhat of a roller coaster ride. When you get your first car, you’re totally excited because, “OMG I have my first car!” That thrill is followed closely by a brief reality check – car insurance. If you can afford car insurance, it’s something that I do recommend. I’ve had… Continue reading →
