One thing I was reminded of when I watched Yogi Bear is how important our countries national parks are. With the recent threat of government shut-down, all of the national parks were at risk of being shutdown, effectively closing off one of the best ways for us to experience true nature and wildlife. I remember my last visit to Yellowstone – seeing Old Faithful and excitedly pulling to the side of the road when we saw bison. I remember a trip to Yosemite, where I viewed Yosemite Falls and gaped at Half Dome. It would be heart-breaking if it was no longer possible for people to be able visit these natural wonders.
Energizer’s now that’s positiveenergy National Parks Program
There are many ways to join Energizer in helping to protect and preserve our beautiful national parks. First, during National Park Week, from April 16th through April 24th, Energizer will donate $1 to the National Park Foundation, up to $50,000, for every person who texts the word “BUNNY” to 27722. This gives us the chance to help Energizer reach their goal of donating $400,000 to the National Park Foundation. Don’t forget that during National Park Week, everyone receives FREE admission to all national parks. I’d definitely recommend you take the opportunity to visit your nearest national park – especially with spring coming upon us, the weather should be wonderful and nature should be in full splendor.
In addition, when you’re buying batteries or flashlights on your next trip to the store, make sure you pick up the specially-marked Energizer products that contain a special code. Collect three codes and visit www.nowthatspositivenergy.com/blogs, where you’ll be able to redeem the codes for your choice of a $10 reward that you can donate directly to the National Park Foundation, or for a Prepaid MasterCard or PayPal to help fund your next trip to a national park.
There are also opportunities for us to volunteer at our local national parks. If you love the outdoors and want a chance to help the park nearest you, visit www.nowthatspositivenergy.com/blogs and check out the now that’s positivenergy events. You can also visit the Energizer Bunny fan page and click on the “National Parks” tab, where you can RSVP to help out. There are currently volunteer opportunities in DC, MD, NY, NC, and OH. Starting on Monday, April 18th through May 13th, visitors to the Energizer Bunny fan page will be able to vote for additional parks to host a special event. Each park host will receive a grant from Energizer as well as a donation of responsibile power solutions.
