Aliens. Do they come in peace? Well, the aliens that have attacked earth in Steven Spielberg’s Falling Skies do not. In fact, they have come to our planet and not only brought a swarm of six-legged, insect-looking aliens and large bullet-proof, bullet shooting machines, but they’re also kidnapping kids and harnessing them to become scrap-metal scavenging drones. (Now that’s a sentence I never thought I’d type.)
Sunday nights aren’t known for great television but since Falling Skies aired on TNT on June 19th, this house has been watching Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) and the “2nd Mass” resistance army band together to fight the invading aliens. Without a doubt the show is exciting. There are endearing moments followed by total alien butt-kicking moments with a few “ewww gross!” scenes. But the show is more than just that too. Each character on the show brings a great back-story and complexity that makes their fight for survival in this dangerous world so interesting to watch. Every episode provides a new twist and turn that leaves you looking forward to next week’s episode.
Check out the trailer for Falling Skies below, then make sure you tune in to Falling Skies on Sundays, 10/9C on TNT. If you haven’t been watching the show, you can catch up on previous episodes online, then tune in next Sunday for the 2 hour season finale.
About Falling Skies
FALLING SKIES opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force.
At the center of the series is Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), a Boston history professor whose family has been torn apart. His wife was killed in the initial attack, and one of his three sons has been captured. Determined to get his son back and to ensure the safety of his other two sons, Tom must put his extensive knowledge of military history to the test as one of the leaders of the resistance movement known as the 2nd Mass, because of their location in Boston, Mass. They are constantly trying to gain intelligence about the aliens in order to one day outsmart and overtake them and hopefully rebuild their lives.
