I always appreciate when companies support and recognize those who “do good” so to speak. That’s just what the Dollar General Every Day Heroes program does – it honors those who go that extra mile, take that extra step to fill a need in their community, or schools, or even families.
This month, P&G and Dollar General continues to honor every day heroes as they celebrate moms – the Every Day Heroes who not only make sacrifices for and support their families, but also contribute to their neighborhoods and communities as well. May’s P&G and Dollar General Everyday Hero is Maria Segura.
Maria exemplifies the Dollar General Every Day Hero through her commitment to build a better life for her family through literacy and education. Maria was a migrant worker and through The Family Literacy Academy of Immokalee in Florida, she earned her GED and was able to offer her two younger children a better future. Today, Maria is the heart and soul of the program and donates much of her time to visiting families and assisting them with any needs they may have.
In honor of Maria and those who support literacy, Dollar General is donating $10,000 to the Family Literacy Academy. In addition, Dollar General Every Day Heroes will be offering “Moms Rule” savings on in honor of moms. If you’d like to celebrate your mom, head over to the Dollar General Facebook page where you can create your own custom “Moms Rule” Facebook cover photo.
