We first learned about That’s Caring last November, when we had the opportunity to speak with That’s Caring CEO & Co-Founder, Jamie Pritscher about her efforts to provide a place where consumers could purchase environmentally friendly gifts to ship to their friends, families, pastors, etc. Since then, Jamie has continued to promote gift options that are eco-friendly, and was even nominated for the 2010 Heart of Green Award, which “recognizes those both at the national and local level who seek to help benefit the envivronment as well as inspire others to go green and live a more earth friendly lifestyle.”
Our That’s Caring gift arrived in a cardboard box which displays That’s Caring’s commitment to the environment through eco-friendly packaging and shipping. All of the packaging that was used to ship the gift can be recycled – always a good thing. I opted to keep the box and the packaging in preparation of a friend’s move, so it will be used again and then recycled.
The That’s Caring product line has also grown to provide even more options for earth-conscious gift-givers. We had an opportunity to review the Salsa Sampler with Record Bowl, which includes Chipotle Black Bean Salsa, Corn Black Bean Salsa, Tortilla Chips, and a Recycled Record “Chip” Bowl and sells for $29.99. Still using their eco-savvy packaging, the gift package was nicely wrapped in bio-degradable clear plastic and packaged in a recyclable tray. Actually, everything in the package is made of recycled content and/or can be re-used or recycled.
After our last review, we determined that when it comes to product selection, That’s Caring has excellent taste for quality food. All of the products included in their gift baskets come from within the US, with the majority coming from the Chicago area local to That’s Caring, enabling them to help grow neighboring businesses and communities.
The Salsa Sampler stayed true to delicious food, with fresh tasting salsa and organic chips that disappeared faster than I’ve ever seen a bag of chips disappear. Seriously, those chips were probably some of the best tortilla chips I’ve ever had, and I’m not even sure why. Maybe it was because they tasted fresh, crisp and weren’t greasy. Of the three salsas, the Rustic Tomato was my favorite – it tasted incredibly fresh and tomato-y, which make it surprising that it was my favorite since I don’t even like tomatoes.
The Salsa Sampler also included a bowl that I’d never seen before – one that is made out of an old vinyl record. I thought that the bowl was a very creative and unique gift item and would add a nice touch if the person you’re gifting to is a music aficionado.
