The cosmetic industry is flooded with all different kinds of products and treatments, making it nearly impossible to decide on just one. To find the right one, you need to consider a number of factors that will influence your decision. How much you can afford, what results you are really looking for, and how much risk you want to take all need to be determined in order to narrow down your choices and find the best one for your particular needs.
Choosing A Skincare Treatment
Determining what your skincare issue is must be done so you can find the right treatment. There is no one device to treat every skin condition that exists. Each device is different in what issues it treats, the side effects and risks it carries, how long the results last, how often treatments must be repeated, and how much the treatment costs per session.
Skin Tightening
As skin ages, wrinkles and sagging become an unwelcome sight in the mirror. Laser skin tightening is a popular treatment for reversing these signs of aging. Using light energy, aesthetic-treatment laser devices heat the skin which causes it to contract, thus tightening the skin. It also stimulates collagen production to smooth the skin and remove the wrinkles. While the treatment costs a moderate amount, it is very effective and the results last for a long time.
Tattoo Removal
Lasers can also be used for other skincare purposes. For example, the most effective treatment for tattoo removal is that performed by a laser. The device uses a focused light to target the skin where it works to break down the ink which was deposited into the skin by the tattoo artist. This causes the immune system to begin fighting the ink particles, much as if the tattoo faded from sun exposure or due to the passing of time. It will take several sessions to do an effective job. Depending on the ink colors and the condition of your skin, treatments may not completely remove the tattoo and leave a faded image behind. There is a risk of scarring, though Q-switched lasers reduce that risk significantly.
Hair Loss Treatments
When you find your hair is thinning too much, one treatment that is relatively inexpensive is micro-needling. Using a Dermaroller on the scalp where the thinning is occurring creates tiny pinholes in the skin or micro injuries. Applying Rogaine or Minoxidil during the treatment has been shown to not just reduce the hair loss, but to actually reverse it most effectively. Be sure to tie back any loose hair to avoid it being caught in the Dermaroller. Although you could use a micro-needling system at home, it is better to seek a professional clinic for this treatment.
Skin Rejuvenation
If your skin is starting to look a bit dull, an inexpensive but effective treatment for the face, neck, and hands is a facial peel. The mildest procedure is nicknamed a lunchtime peel due to how quick it is done and the fact that you can return to work immediately afterward. The chemical is applied to the skin, then removed after it has taken effect. Dead skin cells are removed so the healthier cells beneath are revealed. The risk and side effects of a mild peel are minimal at best.
Keeping Costs Manageable
Figuring out your budget is a great help when narrowing down your choices. Knowing how much you can comfortably afford will help to keep you from overextending your finances. While many treatments may be affordable, you will need to steer around the ones that are not.
