Every woman looks forward to dressing up for a party, particularly if it’s her own party and one of the biggest days of her life – her wedding. Yet, when all eyes are on you this can create a lot of pressured to look your best. Unfortunately, that pressure that can lead to dark circles around the eyes, a puffy face, and skin breakouts.
Therefore, you want to be as relaxed as possible in the days leading up to your wedding. The best way to do this is to prepare in advance – particularly when it comes to pampering and getting into shape. Some people even book a personal trainer as soon as they get the engagement rings. Working out their body for the next year to ensure they are in tip-top shape for their big day.
Of course, getting in shape is a relatively long-term commitment that can’t be done overnight a few days before your wedding. However, there are a few pampering things you can do in the weeks before your wedding in terms of to help you look your best on your big day:
Give Your Skin Some TLC
Start exfoliating on a bi-weekly basis in order to remove dead skin cells. After washing your face, moisturize in order to replenish and rehydrate your skin; ideally at night, before bed. This way it can be fully absorbed while your skin naturally repairs itself.
It’s a good idea to treat your skin to an organic facial mask, a few days before your wedding, but certainly not the night before. A lot of face masks will bring out impurities in the first 24 hours or so. It’s important to give your skin a few days to settle after using a facial mask.
You also want to make sure you keep yourself very well hydrated, as dehydration is one of the main causes of dull skin. In fact, dehydration is also the leading cause of dark circles around the eyes. Dark undereye circles are often associated with late nights and a lack of sleep, but hydration plays a much larger part.
Nourish Your Hair
Whether you’re doing your hair yourself or getting a professional stylist in, you want to ensure you practice your hairstyle in advance of your big day.
If you want vibrant looking hair for your big day, it’s a good idea to nourish your hair a few days before the wedding. Coconut or jojoba oil is a great overnight hair treatment. Make sure you do this a good few days before the wedding so you don’t have greasy hair for the big day.
Reduce Bloating and Discomfort
Many women experience pre-wedding bloating. This is not only uncomfortable but could also have the unwanted appearance of being much bigger than you actually are. The main cause of bloating dehydration. In the days weeks leading up to your big day, make sure you drink plenty of water – at least 8-10 cups. Also, avoid (or least cut down on) foods high in salts and refined sugars. If you do experience bloating, take a few antacids or wind-eze tablets to help get relief.
There are a lot of things happening in the days leading up to your wedding, but it’s also important you take time out to take care of yourself. These simple tips will help you look and feel your best on your big day.
