One thing I’ve noticed since moving into Montana is that the Winter nights are longer than when you live further south. During the Winter months, we rely on lamps and lights to bring extra brightness to our rooms. Depending on your room or home location, you might be looking for a few ways to bring light to a dark room. Here are a few tips on how you can add light to a room.
Update Your Lighting with Brightech LED
Replacing your light fixtures can have a big impact on the brightness of your room. Floor lamps and track lighting are great options for brightening up a room in a way that looks natural. If you have a corner with no light, shining lights towards the ceiling and walls will cause a soft, overhead glow for a diffused light. I like choosing lamps that have a small footprint and don’t take up too much space. When we needed to add some light in a corner of a room, we selected this modern Helix LED Floor Lamp from Brightech LED.
Brightech LED is a great place to discover stylish and affordable floor lamps and other lighting options. They have fun, modern designs like the Helix LED Floor Lamp, as well as more traditional designs. They even have floor lamps with shelving, drawers, and a USB charger! If you’re shopping for a lamp to add more light to a room, check out your options at the Brightech LED lighting store.
Paint the Ceiling White
If your room has a dark ceiling or walls, it’s likely causing your room to look darker. A fresh coat of white or off-white paint will reflect light instead of absorbing it, instantly making the room appear brighter and even larger. That doesn’t mean you can’t add a bit of color but stick to more muted colors like eggshell or soft blues or greens.
Switch Up Your Home Decor
You can brighten up a room with a few simple home decor updates. Adding mirrors is a great way to bring light to a room. The mirrors reflect both natural and artificial light, which will brighten a room throughout the day. Mirrors will also make your room seem larger – bonus!
Another way to make a dark room seem brighter is by updating your furniture and accessories. Swap out dark furniture with pieces that are lighter or brighter colors or woods. You don’t necessarily have to buy a new piece of furniture. Check your other rooms for pieces that you can switch up. A slipcover for your sofa is also a quick way to update the look or fabric of your sofa.
Use Brighter Light Bulbs
Many overlook one easy change to adding light to a room – using brighter light bulbs! Check the safety rating of your light fixtures and buy a higher wattage bulb that’s within those ratings to immediately make your room brighter.
Did you know, different types of light bulbs have different color temperatures? For example, traditional incandescent light bulbs give off a warmer, cozy, yellow color while fluorescent lights give cooler, bluer hues. To simulate daylight in dark rooms, you’ll want to find a daylight bulb that has between 5000-6000 Kelvin.
For even more versatility, check out LED light bulbs. LED bulbs have the same great energy savings as Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFLs) but are more efficient and last longer. Brightech LED even has an LED lamp that lets you adjust the color of the light via your iPhone or iPad.
With just a few simple tricks, you can easily add light to any room. Changing the light sources and room colors can have a big impact and help make your home feel more spacious and brighter.
