When the summer draws to a close we all head back inside to get out of the cold and wet. And while it can be a nice, cosy time of year, it can also get a little boring. When it’s warm out you can jump on your bicycle and go for a ride or go on a long walk in the sunshine. You can enjoy days out or sit in the garden. When you’re limited to indoor activities it can be trickier to keep yourself busy. But there are a few things you can try to keep yourself entertained while stuck indoors this Winter. Here are some ideas for indoor hobbies!
Ideas for Indoor Hobbies
Blogging
Blogging makes a fantastic hobby. You can get creative and network with like minded people. It’s free to start and there’s no commitment. Simply write up an article whenever you’re feeling creative or have something you’d like to speak about. Sites like Blogger or WordPress are where you’d get started. If you want to make your blog look nice you can buy templates from Etsy but it’s completely optional. Maybe you have a passion for a certain topic, from animals to politics. Perhaps you could use it to document your family adventures to look back on in the future?
Baking
Baking is a great hobby to have; everyone loves a baker! All you need are some simple ingredients and you can have fun baking and decorating cakes, cupcakes, pastries, cookies and more. You could bake treats and desserts for your family or occasion cakes for special occasions. Either way, it’s a fun hobby from the comfort of your home. Not only will you enjoy the process but you’ll enjoy eating what you’ve made after too! If you’re really skilled at baking you could even consider opening up your own home bakery. Practice your skills and take something like a 1 year online MBA to get educated about business in general and you’re good to go.
Crafting
Another idea for indoor hobbies while stuck inside is crafting. Crafting could be anything from jewelry making to candle making, soap making, painting, knitting, sewing or anything in between. Spend some time thinking about which crafts most interest you and you can go about collecting the materials you need. There are tutorials online which can teach you how to get started in just about any craft.
Working out
Exercise isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, but once you get into it, it can actually be really enjoyable. You could go to the indoor pool or to the gym. You could go to a dance class, play an indoor sport or even workout at home. Rope in a friend to come with you, and you can socialise and work out at the same time! Winter is a time of year that many of us are less active and eat more leading to weight gain, so make a start in your new year’s resolution early and get active!
I guess if one is baking, one should be working out, too. 😉
