If you have been with your other half for a while, you might be thinking about proposing to them. This is usually the next logical step in a relationship and is a true sign of your commitment. Once you have made the decision, you then have the task of actually executing it, something that can leave you feeling a bit bewildered. There are so many things to think about, from where and when to do it, to how to do it. Here are some things to think about that might make proposing little bit easier…

1. Consider the venue
When it comes to proposing to your other half, one of the first things you will need to think about is where you want to do it. Think about what your partner likes and the sort of place they would appreciate most. Would they like it to be somewhere private and intimate such as in your house, or would they like it to be in a public place? Will you decorate it ahead of time? Or will you see if the venue you’re at can bring out a cake or champagne? Think carefully and choose somewhere you know they will like. Some people don’t like being the centre of attention and getting proposed to will certainly make them that!
2. Think about the ring
There are a myriad of beautiful engagement rings on the market and you are sure to find many that your other half will love. You will need to come up with a budget as soon they can get expensive! Decide on the stone you want, it could be a traditional diamond such as round cut diamonds from Whiteflash, or it could be something more unique like a sapphire or ruby. Think of your other half’s style and what they would like to wear on their finger. There are a host of different cuts and some can have many diamonds or stones, or just one large one in the centre. Pinterest can be a great place for inspiration, while it is always good to head into a few different jewellers so you can see them in real life as they might be different from pictures online.
3. Decide if you want to do it at a certain date or occasion
Choosing the date of the proposal is also important. Would your other half like it to be on an occasion such as their birthday or valentines day? Or would they like it just on a normal day? Some people love it to be on a special holiday, while others think that is too cliche. Consider what your other half would appreciate the most and try to plan it around that. A nice one to do is your anniversary of when you first got together, it makes that date even more special in the future!
These are just a few things that you need to think about before proposing. Once you have those elements sorted then you are pretty much ready to go! Are you thinking of proposing? Have you got anything sorted? Let me know in the comments below!
