Have you ever heard of the scripture that says “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”? (James 4: 6) If you think about it, there’s a lot that can be gleaned from these words. It’s almost like some kind of programming language or math equation.
IF, “this = this”, THEN, “that = that”. If God opposes the proud and shows favor to the humble, then those who walk humbly will experience God’s favor in their lives. The scriptures can be very simple sometimes. Don’t allow your intellect to confuse you and miss out on the message. Be more humble and you will experience more of God’s blessings in your life.
This humility should be to God and His word. We should be guided by His voice within that reminds us when we’re acting ugly or being foolish. If not careful, it’s so easy to be defiant to God’s voice. It’s like being back in elementary school and being told that your behavior isn’t nice. Back then, we had to listen and say “Yes Mrs. …. I apologize.”
Now, we don’t have to apologize if we don’t want to. Why? Because God gives us free will. We’re grown now and we can do what we want, when we want, how we want, and with whomever we want! (I might be getting a little carried away with allowing my inner kid out 🙂 )
God gives us free will. If we choose to listen to that inner voice that sounds like a teacher, guiding us in the way that our loving Father would guide us, we are then being humble to God.
IF, you are “humble to God’s word”, THEN, “God shows favor in your life”.
Did you ever think formulas and equations could be so much fun?
Peace and Blessings,
Gil
great post!
Thank you for your explanation of this verse!
This helped me alot. My husband and I are going through trials now and he asks why, if God is real, dose he let us walk off track? Why, id God is real and all knowing, did he create the Devil? Free will sums it up for the most part. Knowing God made the devil is another story. All I can say is it goes back to the Garden???
I shall have to use the statement that “formulas and equations” can be fun to my children when they struggle with algebra!
Thank you for the information and i will put it to good use
As I read the scripture James4:6 I remembered I had heard this same subject on a Christian TV station this. It made me think and now that I read it here it has made me think even more. It makes my happy to be a Believer and able to comprehend the subject.
Excellent explanation,a lot of times things are only as hard as you make them.
I find these words to be especially significant at Easter time, but people should pay attention all year round
I love it when I see bloggers who post wonderful christian insights like this one I also try and do this and Incorporate my christian beliefs as much as I can in my postings .God Bless you 🙂
I love this. My best friend and I often have a bible study without husbands or kids. We just sit for hours and my friends mom helps us understand some of the verses that we don’t quite get <3
i love when you post these from the bible i come here to read them all the time
Thanks for sharing….I needed that!!! 🙂
It is wonderful to see a fellow Christian on a blog like yours! May God richly bless you!
Being humble is a wonderful attribute to master and helps others as well as yourself.
Sometimes that inner voice (God speaking) can be very quiet… and I really have to listen hard. But, it is there. 🙂
Very beautiful. I need to listen to that inner voice more often. 🙂
Being humble is something in this day and age that you don’t see in many people. Even if it’s for something so small, people should still be asking for forgiveness.
I enjoyed reading your interpretation of that verse..
Being humble is something we should all try to be but it seems like so many have forgot and really dont even seen it
This one of those things that seems easy enough, then suddenly you realize you are in fact prideful! Thank the Lord He is still conforming me to His image and he’s not done!!
I couldn’t agree more with God’s wishing us all to be humble. I also believe gratitude is the sign of noble souls and believe God wants us all to also be humble. Peace.
I wish you had been around when I was trying to pass college algebra…LOLOLOL!!! I like your explanation of this verse. 🙂
This is a very interesting take on the verse. You make it simple breaking it down like this!
I am fond of math, so this actually makes sense to me. I wish we could bring more mathematical equations into life’s problems!
Thank you for this post 🙂 Reminds those who are too proud to humble themselves so they can walk a mile in others shoes
Love how you described the scripture! It’s sometimes difficult to figure out scripture…and yes great way to “turn it into” a formula!
Reminds me of pride cometh before a fall
May God Bless you and yours.
I really enjoy your website.
Thank you for all you do for everyone else.
yours in Christ.
Very true, God says do the math!!
I really love this website. May God Bless you and yours.
What a wonderful way to explain about the humbling of ourselfs. Sometimes in this society of “Keeping up with The Jone’s”
We forget about want and need. I always tell my grown kids…don’t want it, need to have to have it.
Thanks for the great – and practical – interpretation!
Beautiful interpretation. Thank you!
Excellent post. I love that scripture too. Humility is a gem and a much desired characteristic.
May God bless you and your family
great posts and i am entering for the kitchenaid mixer giveaway and had to do this so here i am posting a comment
I love that God’s voice corrects but never condemns. He always loves us no matter what but he wants us to grow!
I love the If and Then formulas. My favorite is 2 Chronicles 7:14. IF my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (IF we humble, pray, seek and turn, THEN he will hear, forgive and heal. )
God is perfect in His timing and His ways!
thanks for the information!
I try my best to be humble to all.
great tips on understanding it, thanks a bunch
Very inciteful.
Thank you for the wonderful readings and inspiration.
great post and love the inspiration!
That is a good verse. I often ponder how much the proud seem to get their way and plow you under, but God sees and will watch out for the humble. The hard part is knowing what/how is humble!!
Thank you so much for this post. Though I know it has been quite some time since you posted it; I needed to read it now. Yours in light ~ Robin
this is a beautiful verse,it has a lot of power in it. thank you for posting.
i love this thank you for sharing
Thanks for the info, its wonderful 😉
Thank you for the information,VERY HELPFUL
This is a good reminder. Thank you.
Sometimes we all need a reminder. I grew up on this song, yet I was an adult before I fully realized how much his love was shining thru me. We don’t always realize our blessings, we take so much for granted. Get your lives in order, we never know how much time we have on this earth.
