“You reap what you sow”
It’s funny; we’ve all heard this statement before. Most of the time, they are words of comfort to those who have been hurt and wronged. The “bad person” is going to get what they deserve is generally the sentiment.
However, has anyone ever thought about it from the other side of the coin? There’s another way to look at it. We reap what we sow when we do the right thing and strive to live according to what is right and true. When we “put out” good, we get good in return. When we “put out” bad, well…..
Strive to be more positive and loving in areas of your life where you normally wouldn’t be, and you just might see more love and positivity coming back in areas of your life that you least expect. In truth, the experience never gets old. No matter how many times it plays out, it always feels good and replenishes a person’s faith. There’s no need to take anyone’s word for it. Find out for yourself if you’re sincerely interested in knowing.
Be more loving. Be more just. Be more understanding. Be more patient. Accordingly, you will reap that which you have sown. It’s another way to look at it when you read in the scriptures that God blesses those who are a blessing to others. Reaping what we sow isn’t supposed to scare us from doing wrong. It’s another one of God’s reminders of why it’s important to do right.

I’ve been sewing and sewing, and it has gotten to a point for me that I just accept that my lot in life is to have a hard, burdensome life, and I love God so much that I have totally accepted that. I feel that my life and the way things have worked out has been my cross, and have drank this cup willingly.
Of course in the beginning, I begged God for a different life. But now, I’ve accepted my life as it is, and have been able to find wonderful blessings to be thankful for still. I mean I think the greatest pain that anyone can have is the pain that comes when you genuinely love and show love to others. But not only will they not acknowledge you, but they don’t appreciate you, and even situations for you hurt.
I’m telling you, I thank God, for without him, where would we in this world be who are his children. He lets us know when these situations are occurring that we are not alone, and he coaches us in secret. I thank him for that, and this post has given me new hope that maybe, just maybe some day before my tired body gives up the ghost, I might reap a blessing out of all this.
First of all, Great Post GIL! The Lord is ministering a mighty message through you in that post. Secondly, I have found and truly believe that when we sow good and don’t immediately see the benefits, that God is storing up our blessing and saving it for something special. Better than any thing that we could imagine. Also, I believe that the good we sow on earth will be reaped in heaven and we will receive a Job well done from our Father-God, which is better than any reward that we can receive on the earth. Matthew 25:21 “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. “ God has a mighty plan for all who do right and wait with patience and long suffering. John 16:20-22 “ 20Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. 21A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. 22And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.” So, keep doing what you are doing because GOD has spoken concerning our trials in the world and the reward that will come for our hard work for him.
Peace and Blessings.
Hi Leilani, thank you for commenting. Your thoughts are appreciated and are a help to others who can relate to what you’re saying.
Being a blessing to others requires sacrifice on our part, and yes, many times we have to go through tough times in order to learn life lessons in humility. That doesn’t mean we’re supposed to live a long and “hard” life. If there’s something we can do to make things better, we’re supposed to do it. When life is hard, continue to learn from the experiences, appreciate the lessons (blessings) from them, but remember you don’t have to always bear the weight of the world on your shoulders to feel as though you’re doing the right thing. Something can be done to make things better.
Generally, when a person is striving to do the right thing, but continues to find nothing but road blocks along the way, there’s something else that needs to be done. Not only are we to do good and flee from toxic lifestyles (sin), we’re also suppose to “get our house in order” (so to speak) and make sure we’re keeping those same toxins out of our lives. It’s like spring cleaning. Clean it up, throw it out, or give it away. It doesn’t matter what you do, but something must be done 🙂
It’s a great thing to be willing to drink of the cup and bear the cross. We all have to go through this along the way. It’s even better that humility and thankfulness can be obtained while doing so. To know that we’re not alone during it all is the desire of many. It’s also important to remember we are supposed to be moving forward during this process. Yes, life can be hard at times, but in Christ, it doesn’t have to remain that way once we’ve learned from it. Things can, do, and MUST change. While it is a comfort to know our “rewards are stored in heaven,” there’s nothing wrong with walking in Love AND wisdom so as to also experience a little heaven here on earth now.
Although I have no doubt you will receive just rewards for the love and sacrifices made, I pray that the blessing due you be manifest mightily in your life now and that you grow closer to God through it all.

Hi Leilani! Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts. I hope you are able to find some inspiration and words of encouragement here.
I know that sometimes things are tough, and there were times in my life where I wondered “Is this IT?” Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be. All things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. As Christians, we can strive to be closer and closer to Christ each day, and doing so will cause change in our lives.
We need to change, or at least strive to change, or else we risk becoming like stagnant water and get polluted with ick. I’ll definitely be keeping you in my prayers, and will pray that the Holy Spirit continues to flow through you, to help encourage and inspire you to keep changing for the better.

I know this sounds cliche, Leilani, but you will be rewarded for your sewing in Heaven! I’m so thankful to God that you are able to tolerate the pain of this life so that your reward can be received.
I agree. I always say something similiar to a certain member of my family.

Thanks!
Well said. Amen.
God is merciful but He is also just.
I love this post. The thing is, I have said those exact words too, but used it as you have explained in the second way. I never relized that it could be used in the first fashion. How negative! Maybe I am naive, but I just didn’t think about it like that. I used it as a motivating phrase, especially to my kids. Thank you for the post!
I try to think of it both ways, and also as concerns myself and others.
What a beautiful post on a morning I so need to read it. Thank you for reminding me of the importance to keep on keeping on.
