When I’m out of fresh vegetables and don’t have time to run to the store, I grab a can of green beans or corn to help round out our meals. However, food out of a can doesn’t always taste that good. Fortunately, there are ways you can make canned food taste amazing. I recently cooked up this Butter & Garlic Canned Green Beans recipe using canned green beans and they were fantastic. I mean, can you really go wrong with butter & garlic?
This recipe is pretty easy to prepare and can be cooked in just one pan. Melt the butter, add garlic, add green beans, season and cook!

Recipe Tweaks for Fresh Green Beans
You can also adjust this recipe for use with fresh green beans. To make fresh Butter & Garlic Green beans, you’ll need to cook the green beans in water FIRST (about 5 minutes – until the beans are tender,) then add the butter, garlic, salt, pepper and finish cooking.
I served these Butter & Garlic Canned Green Beans as a side to some oven baked chicken but these green beans are also a great side to beef and pork dishes.

Useful Kitchen Tools to Make Canned Green Beans on the Stove
I make canned green beans on the stove quite frequently. If you find yourself cooking green beans stovetop, you’ll want to have a few kitchen tools on hand. Fortunately, this one-pan green beans recipe just requires a quality saute pan and spatula.
Do you have any favorite dishes that are made with canned vegetables?
I have been making this for years, everyone loves it.
I think butter and garlic could probably go on any vegetable and people would love it. Except for eggplant and tomatoes… I don’t eat those, LOL!
sounds delicious.
(I was raised on canned beans. I am particular on the brand if they’re not home canned.)
I think I’ve noticed the difference in flavors between brands. I’ve never tried home canned green beans before.
These sound so easy and delicious.
Nice simple recipe. I love garlic so to me it makes everything delish
This looks like it might make canned beans worth eating.
We love green beans, this sounds yummy!
What a great way to make canned green beans that much better!
This recipe was really bad. I followed your directions exactly. The butter suffocated the flavor of the green beans.
Sorry you didn’t like the recipe. It is intended to be buttery but not tooooo buttery, to help balance out the garlic flavors. It might suit your tastes more with just 1 Tbsp or 1 1/2 Tbsp of butter, but then it’ll just be Garlicy Green Beans.
