While the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate will always have a special place in my recipe book, sometimes I want a cup of hot chocolate that is a little more decadent. Something a little richer with more of a chocolate flavor. When that happens, there’s only one way to make chocolate – using “traditional” ingredients of chocolate and milk. Here’s a hot chocolate recipe for some decadent hot chocolate that will satisfy your chocolate craving with a little hint of something extra.
Decadent Hot Chocolate
Decadent Hot Chocolate
Delicious and decadent hot chocolate
Servings 1
Ingredients
- 1 cup of lowfat milk
- 3 ounces SCHARFFEN BERGER 70% Cacao Bittersweet or 62% Cacao Semisweet Chocolate coarsely chopped or broken
- 1 Tablespoon white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon optional
Instructions
-
Put all of the ingredients into the Mr. Coffee Cocomotion. Turn it on and let it do the work!
-
In a small saucepan, melt the chocolate with one cup of the milk over med-low heat while stirring constantly.
-
After the chocolate has melted, increase to medium heat and add the remainder of the milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon, while stirring rapidly. Do not let boil.
Oh Yum! Looks like I need to get my hands on this fancy chocolate and the Mr Coffee cocoa maker! I love a rich cup of hot chocolate. There’s nothing else quite like it.
This does sound very good and new to me I would like to try it. Thank you. Jerri Davis
Yummy! I will have to try this, looks better than anything from a packet.
oooooooo…yummy..need to give this a try too.
Sounds deliciously different. I don’t own a Mr. Coffee Cocomotion, but I am sure I could improvise. Thanks for sharing!!
I need to figure out how to do this without the machine. Looks wonderful!
This sounds like a hot chocolate to enjoy by myself to unwind….what a great sounding recipe

I didn’t have any Scharfen Berger chocolate, but I did have another brand and I just made myself a cup of hot cocoa. Oh was it good! Thanks for the recipe.
Love not cocoa will be trying this one
Oh goodness, I HAVE to make this! I have a huge weakness for hot cocoa! You know people and their obsession with coffee? well that is me and hot cocoa! Lol.
A perfect time for me to come across this recipe. I have a container of unsweeten cocoa that I was running out of ideas of what to do with.
This sounds delicious!! it’s kindof’ like my auntie’s old fashioned hot chocolate except she didn’t have a Cocomotion. She would stand and stir and stir on a low heat till it was all creamy and blended
Thanks for the recipe!!
This sounds so good. For some odd reason I have been really craving hot chocolate for the last month or so. It’s not something I generally drink much of at all, maybe once a year, but right now I am enjoying it! I don’t have a Cocomotion either, but the name sounds cool. I would make stuff in it constantly just so I could say the word Cocomotion. My husband would have to hide it so I would stop saying it every day. ANYWAYS! Might have to try this the old-fashioned way!
The only thing that I would do differently is that I would use whole milk with a splash of heavy cream…lol. YUM!
WOW!! This looks amazing! I cannot wait to make this for my family, especially on these cold winter days up here in Colorado! 🙂 Thanks for such a great recipe!
