The thing about being someone around my age is that lots of other people my age are married and having kids. As someone who considered her “kids” to have four legs and a tail, the world of babies isn’t that familiar to me. I mean, I’ve seen how things could be – I babysat back in the day and I’ve even watched my fair share of Supernanny. But beyond that, baby stuff is still new.
I try to imagine what expectant friends are looking for when they try to prepare for their new family member. I think lots of people tackle the nursery first. First up will be the paint color. Personally, I’m fond of yellow – it’s so bright and cheery and works for both boys and girls. Once you have the paint color you’ll need some sort of baby furniture. I think convertible cribs seem like a good monetary investment since the crib “grows” as your child grows.
The other thing that would be a necessity is a nice rocking chair. Just in case the little tyke decides he/she isn’t quite ready to sleep through the night. The cool thing about a rocking chair is that it can become the place where you and your child can snuggle up for bedtime stories or quiet time, even when they are older. Plus, they’re just as relaxing for adults as they are for kids. I don’t even have a baby and I can still picture myself relaxing in one of these.
When the time comes for me to shop, I think I’m going to go for affordable yet stylish, and above all something that can be useful for more than a few months. (Diapers and clothes can be the exceptions, of course. 😉 )
No nursery is complete without a glider rocker! I don’t know how I would have ever managed without mine!
I really like the blanched white wood finish of the glider you highlighted!
Thanks for sharing!
Is it OK to buy a glider rocker even if you aren’t expecting? They look so comfy! LOL.
Thanks for stopping by! Crossing fingers I win your giveaway. 🙂
