Bausch + Lomb Biotrue Review

As a long-time contact lens wearer, I’ve had the opportunity to try many a contact lens solution. Remember when there used to be a separate cleaner and a separate rinse? Now they’ve combined it all into one bottle that allows you to soak, clean, and rinse. And all that is great, but I’ve noticed that there are some solutions that my eyes just “like” better than others. I’ve recently a discovered one such solution – Bausch + Lomb’s new Biotrue solution.

The Review

The Bausch + Lomb Biotrue Multi-Purpose Solution bottle says “inspired by the biology of your eyes.” My eyes have noticed. For some multi-purpose solutions, my eyes sting a little bit when I put my contacts on in the morning. I really like that Bausch + Lomb is using ingredients that mimic what my eyes produce naturally, which I think is especially noticeable when my eyes are tired and on the sensitive side.

Sometimes I push my contact-wearing to the limit. I’ll wear them for long hours during the day, and well into the night. This means I need a solution that not only cleans the lenses, but one that helps keep my eyes comfortable long-term. Biotrue does that by helping to “prevent certain tear proteins from denaturing for clean lenses and fight[ing] germs for healthy lens wear.” (FYI, denaturing means that the chemical structure of a protein are altered in such a way that its original properties are diminished or disappear. So Biotrue helps to stop the altering of the natural tear proteins in your eye.) At the end of a long day, my eyes can feel the difference – they aren’t as irritated or as dry.

I’ve got to say, I love the benefits of Biotrue, and my eyes do too. (I know looks don’t matter, but there’s something about this clear bottle that I’m totally digging as well.) I like that it is designed to work with my eye’s natural chemistry – both by using a lubricant that my eyes naturally produce, as well as making sure everything is pH balanced.
