The California Wine Club – Review

My neighborhood recently had a wine festival where I got to sample some of the various wines from the local area. That festival really helped me to appreciate how smaller vineyards can still produce award winning wines. If you are interested in discovering some new wineries, The California Wine Club is a great way to get introduced some of the “mom & pop” vineyards from California.

You know how sometimes you can just get excited thinking about a gift or package arriving at your home? I felt that twinge of excitement a few weeks ago when I anticipate the arrival of my first shipment of wine from The California Wine Club. My delivery arrived and I could not wait to open the box. Inside, carefully protected inside a special styrofoam container were two bottles of wine. Having the wine delivered straight to the front door is so convenient. I decided to enjoy the bottles in the September shipment with a couple of friends. Our two wines were a ‘Zinman’ Zinfandel, 2008 and El Dorado Chardonnay, 2009 – both from Perry Creek Winery, located in California’s Sierra Foothills. I have to say, that Bruce and Pam were totally spot on. I am more of a white wine kind of gal, while my friends are reds. The “Zinman” was fantastic – it had great body and was very smooth. The Chardonnay was worthy of it’s Silver Medal as well. It was very crisp and I could really taste the tropical fruit flavors that were infused into the wine.
