If there’s one thing that almost every young child seems to like, it’s seeing if something can fit in their mouth. Whether it’s a blanket or a marble – nothing is safe from the inquiring hands of a toddler. Sometimes those things simply pass through (for better or worse) and the child is fine. When it comes to batteries, though, there are dangers if they are swallowed. The smaller, coin lithium batteries are frequently used in small remote controls, watches, remote car key fobs and other small gadgets, and because of their small size, they’re more susceptible to being swallowed. Energizer has just released a new package for their Coin Lithium 2032 Batteries to help reduce the occurrence of accidental ingestion by children.
The new Energizer Coin Lithium 2032 battery packaging is made of more durable and flexible materials that aren’t easily torn or broken into by tiny fingers. While traditional battery packaging typically has all batteries in one plastic container, so that once it’s opened, there’s access to all the other batteries, the Energizer package has the coin lithium batteries sealed in their own individual compartments. To access each battery, you simply cut one side open while the other battery remains safely in the package.
The new packaging meets Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines for child-resistant packaging and also has warnings and instructions to alert parents of the dangers of potential ingestion, as well as instructions for getting help in case one is accidentally swallowed. Even with these warnings, we should still do our part to make sure all batteries, as well as other potential swallow-hazards, are stored safely out of reach. We keep our batteries in a sealed plastic container near the top shelf of the closet.
Energizer’s new Coin Lithium 2032 battery packs are hitting stores now, so keep your eyes open for this safer packaging if you’re shopping for coin lithium batteries.

I bought the package of 2 2032 batteries and I still cannot get this damn package open. I have used an exacto knife, a scissors and still it refuses to open and I cannot get it open. I used to buy these at Radio Shack since they were not in a package. I need to put this damn thing in my diabetic meter (Accu-chek Guide) but I have had 3 friends also try and they gave up,. NOT EVERYONE HAS KIDS AND I AM ONE OF THEM!!! PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TOOL TO GET IT OPEN AS THE VIDEOS ON YOU TUBE HAVE BEEN WORTHLESS.
