We love to grill. While I now have an indoor gas grill that allows me to grill up chicken skewers, hamburgers, or whatever else we want to grill-up year-round, I didn’t always have an indoor grill. For grill-lovers, that means come rain, come snow, come sleet, you find a way, any way to grill. Even if that means standing outside while it’s snowing with an umbrella to keep the snow off the grill. Yes, been there – done that. And the food tasted delicious.
As winter draws to a close and the warmer months approach, that means more time outside with the friends, and food, you love. To help get your outdoor living space ready for a delicious summer, here are a few essential items for outdoor grilling.
1. A grill.
This is clearly an essential for grilling. Whether it’s a basic grill or the new Kenmore Elite Grill that’s debuting at Sears this summer, find the grill that fits your level of grilling comfort and how you plan to use the grill. If you’re keeping it simple, you can get a simple charcoal grill. If you’re going gourmet with plans to rival an Iron Chef, amp it up to a grill that has a few more bells and whistles. The Kenmore Elite Grill has three burners, 692 sq. inches of cooking space and a warming rack.
2. Outdoor furniture
If you’re cooking outside, then the weather is probably quite nice. If the weather is nice, then you’ll likely want to eat outside. You can dine in comfort – both day and night – with the new lighted patio furniture found exclusively at Sears. Lighted furniture? Yup – the Halley collection from La-Z-Boy and the Bella Luna collection from Agio have built in lights to add an extra touch of ambiance to your outdoor living space. Comfy and stylish? You betcha.
3. Grilling Tools
Just like an artist has a brush and paint, a griller has his own set of tools. There are special prongs, tongs and brushes you can use while you grill. Pick up a nice grilling cooking tool set to help unlock your inner griller. Make sure whatever set you get includes at a minimum a grill brush (for cleaning), spatula (a metal one that won’t melt on your grill), and tongs (to help flip your meat, veggies, etc.)
4. Delicious Seasoning and/or Marinade
While some people may think that you can just throw some meat on the grill and call it a day, I fall into the camp that says you should season, season, season. Even if it’s just with basic salt and pepper, seasoning your meat and veggies can take those grill items from good to totally amazing. I’m partial to marinating my meat and then basting it while it grills. You can find a variety of rubs, seasonings, and marinades at your local grocery store to kick start your grilling experience.

We like grilling anytime of year too. We did it just yesterday!
My boyfriend and I grill all year…I live in upstate NY, and we are out there, cooking in a foot of snow, 30 degrees! Of course, we don’t eat outside, but there’s nothing like a grilled steak on a cold night!
I need to buy a new grill. My patio has an undercover area that would enable me to grill year round 🙂 I loved the picture of the patio furniture and the ‘atmosphere’ it creates.
looks like nice stuff! no grill here–I think my hubby is afraid he’d have to cook.
Excited to BBQ in the spring
That Kenmore Elite Grill is magnificent. I would love to have that just to grill my veggie burgers and other vegetables! And I so would grill outside in cold temperatures, just as long as I had my gear on! I suspect the heat radiating from the grill would help keep me warm as well.
I lve this kind of activity, we do it twice a year, specially in summer
I love grilling. I do it all year long. The only time I don’t grill is when it’s raining. Grilling makes everything taste better and it’s less to clean up. 🙂
Oh we love to grill. We are missing all the essentials…are grill is aged our utensils are worn and our table/chairs are non-existent. Nothing like the swell of a BBQ.
I love to hate to hate to love grilling. Love doing it, hate doing it. Although, if we had some silly propane I’d so be using that tonight to cook the skirt steak!
Lucky for me, I live in Florida, so I can usually do it ear round.
My husband is the one that does most of the grilling at out house. We do it almost every night in the summer, not so much in the winter months. We need another grill we have a gas I would like a charcoal.
Gosh – with all of the snow we still have on the ground I don’t know if I can even think of grilling yet – but maybe that’s the best time to update the equipment because we won’t be in a rush!
