There use to be a time when I would run every day. Albeit, I was a lot younger and a bit more in shape. The weather was a lot warmer too. Now that I’m living in a climate that gets a little cooler in the winters, let’s just say it’s a little more challenging to get in that cardio. I’m not exactly the sort of person that likes running when it’s below 40 degrees…you know…where it’s so cold that any movement at all creates wind chill.
So during the winter months, I turn to exercise machines to help with cardio, such as ellipticals or exercise bikes. One of the things I like about exercise bikes is that you can get an amazing workout without any extra stress on the knees and joints. You can bike hard if you want or sit back and do a leisurely pedal. With elliptical machines, I feel like I have to be running fast all the time, or I almost feel as if I’ll lose my balance.
Don’t think that exercise bikes all have to be big or have those giant fans at the front (the ones that are like people-powered AC’s for everyone else in the room BUT the person pedaling.) Now they have more compact upright exercise bikes that take up less floor space and are more affordable. It also allows you to pedal with your back more upright instead of leaning forward all the time. (Better for posture.)
Once I have the space, I definitely want to pick up some piece of cardio equipment so I can keep exercising when the temperatures drop. Otherwise, I might have to start hibernating for the winter. LOL.
Hopefully, the ones they make now are much better than the one my mom had–didn’t really do much except a leisurely ride. the one pictured looks better.
