Last month, I shared how using a paper shredder, like the Fellowes 73Ci Paper Shredder can help protect your credit card and identity by shredding bills and other documents with personal information. I’ve been using the Fellowes 73Ci for the past month or so, and have determined it is one of the best paper shredder I’ve owned so far.
Here are a few reasons it is now our go-to shredder for paper shredding.
1. It just looks cool.
Seriously – LED lights, shiny paper entry, and a back-lit multi-touch display. The multi-touch control panel lights up blue and also includes Reverse and Forward buttons, warning lights for a full bin or open bin, paper thickness levels, and other lights.
2. Safety Features Galore
In our previous article, we mentioned SafeSense Technology. Whenever someone’s hand touches the paper opening the shredder stops and a warning light turns on. This is a very important feature for households with kids and/or pets.
3. It’s Jam Proof
If you put in too many papers or if the shredder jams mid way, the shredder will pause and automatically correct itself before it resumes shredding. This jam proof system helps save time, since you don’t have to stop, unplug, pull out each page one by one, check that the blades are clear, re-plug, and re-shred. I would also call this a safety feature, since it means you won’t have to risk your fingers when trying to remove a paper jam.
4. It’s Energy Efficient
Most of the paper shredders I’ve had before had a power switch on the back that you had to toggle on/off when it’s not in use. The Fellowes 73ci Paper Shredder also has a power switch on the back, but unlike the other shredders, it automatically goes into sleep mode after 2 minutes of inactivity. To wake it up, you just hit the ON/OFF button on the multi-touch control panel.
5. It can shred A LOT.
Whether it’s a stack of old bills, credit cards, old CDs, the Fellowes 73Ci Paper Shredder can shred them all easily. It can shred up to 12 sheets of paper at a time and pulverizes credit credit cards in mere seconds. You don’t even need to remove the staples from your papers. It’s recommended to shred no more than 300 sheets per day. I have yet to come anywhere near that capacity.
