This past week I embarked on my journey towards hair-free legs. Tria recommends performing the hair removal treatment every two weeks for the first three months, then once a month for the next five, so this was the first of eleven treatments. I was excited.
Before you can use the Tria Hair Removal Laser, you need to “unlock” the laser with a couple of steps. First, you’ll need to activate your Tria online – this is an easy step that takes less than a minute. Also, you’ll want to make sure that your Tria Hair Removal laser is charged at least 2 hours before you first use it.
Next, you need to unlock the laser. The Tria Hair Removal Laser is safe to use with certain skin tones and darker colored hair, so it checks to make sure your skin is “optimal” for treatment. I have a little bit of color from all the yard work I’ve been doing over the summer, so I was a little concerned with whether or not I was too tan. To unlock the Tria Hair Laser, you simply turn on the laser, then place the bottom of the laser over the skin you plan on treating. Fortunately, the Tria checked my skin and I passed – yay!
After my skin was prepped and the laser unlocked, I did a patch test in the treatment area. To do a patch test I started off at the lowest of five power levels. I placed the laser on the skin, it gave a little “beep” and I felt a little zap – something between a pin prick and touching something hot. At level 1, I hardly felt anything – just a little warmth. I then increased the power level until it became almost too much. For my leg, that was a level 3. For my underarm it was a level 4. Remember, this is a laser treatment so a little pain is expected but can be adjusted for your comfort level. After the patch test, wait 24 hours to make sure that you skin doesn’t have a reaction. After the required 24 hours, my skin still looked good, so I began my first treatment.
Stay tuned for our next post where we talk more about how the treatment feels and how easy it was to use the Tria Hair Removal Laser.
