The Christmas and holiday specials are starting to air on TV, and there’s a show you don’t want to miss—The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday. It’s airing exclusively on The Roku Channel on December 2, 2022. It’s family-friendly, inspiring, and full of good cheer.

The holiday season evokes delicious smells wafting from kitchens with families baking together and making memories. As they gather together, many families spend time enjoying holiday specials on TV. The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday is the must-see way to do both.
The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday opens with co-hosts Ellie Kemper and Zach Cherry riding in a festively decorated golf cart. They introduce us to the judges and to the six celebrity bakers vying to impress the judges, and they’re playing for charity, which is a win-win. SNL cast member Chloe Fineman, Oscar-winner Nat Faxon, Emmy-nominee D’Arcy Carden, Social Media star Liza Koshy, Superbowl winner Marshawn Lynch, and comedian Joel Kim Booster are ready to compete for the coveted cake stand and title of Star Baker in the iconic tent which is decorated for the Christmas season.
The show is broken into three challenges, with Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith doing the judging and ranking of each. Since the celebrities claim to not have experience baking in the kitchen, it’s fun to watch as they are tested through the challenges and learning to whisk and mix and bake.
The Signature Challenge has each celebrity making Cream Puff Holiday Characters using a choux pastry. The individual pastry characters created by each celebrity are creative and meaningful to themselves and their families. The celebrities get along wonderfully and they have a great rapport with the judges, all the while having a great time.
The Technical Challenge is for a Meringue Holiday Wreath with sugared blueberries, mascarpone cream, blueberry coulis, and berries for garnish. While given a recipe, the baking time is missing, and the celebrities are really put to the test.
The Showstopper Challenge is where the celebrities’ individuality really shines through. Tasked with creating a 3D Family Holiday Memory Cake with their personal family memories from childhood or as adults serving as the inspiration for the design. Each story is as unique as each creation.

As the celebrities go through the challenges, we see their confidence in their abilities build. You’ll find yourself rooting for each one throughout the competition as they share their heartwarming stories and memories. There’s a lot of comedic relief sprinkled in, and the amity between the celebrities and with the judges is kindhearted.
Every baked pastry item looks like it tastes delicious, even if the final product doesn’t always meet the envisioned inspiration. Mishaps happen, and how the celebrities handle those is a testament to their personalities. The judges, Paul and Prue, find themselves surprised by the American celebrities, and the high compliment they give them is one for the books.
Ultimately, one celebrity is awarded The Great American Baking Show cake plate trophy and named the Star Baker.
The Great Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday is a charming holiday special perfect for this Christmas season. It’s entertaining with the feel-good joy of the holidays. Tune in for a delicious time which will inspire you to start your own Christmas baking.
