Last week, I got to do a little Secret Santa shopping for another blogger. I received a few details of her likes/dislikes and things she would like to get as a gift. Of course, if I wasn’t a good Secret Santa, I could have strayed from her wish list and bought her a nice warm pair of winter socks. Who doesn’t appreciate warm socks in the winter? Fortunately, once I hit the jcpenney website, the idea of socks as a gift went out the window – they just had too many really GOOD gifts to even consider a gift like socks (although they do have socks and for the record I have nothing against socks as a gift.)
As I was browsing, I thought it might be hard to find just the right gift. Do I shop Home Decor? Do I shop their Keurig collection? Do I shop Housewares? The choices were endless, with many of them under my $50 price point. Here were a couple of items that I almost chose (but didn’t):
Finally, I selected an item that I’m 99.999% sure my giftee will love. With all of the options, I’m really excited to see what my Secret Santa selected for me!
The really cool thing about being a Secret Santa was that I could create my own personalized gift tag using jcpenny’s QR Santa Tags. To create your custom Santa Tag, you scan the QR code with your phone and input your cell or phone number. Within a minute, you’ll get a phone call with voice prompts to allow you to record your own message.
I might have had a little fun with my tag and there might be Alvin and the Chipmunks singing in the background. Just the ability to record your own message makes the Santa Tags so much more fun than a regular sticky tag. I mean, you could even get the real Santa to record a message for you. The possibilities are endless. Once the message is recorded, you can stick the QR tag onto the gift. Your gift recipient just needs to scan the tag with their QR code readers to listen to the message.
jcpenneys has a great collection of gifts on sale (practically everything I looked at was marked down) and their special Santa Tags are just plain cool. Stay tuned for part 2 where we see what our Secret Santa got us, and to reveal who we shopped for.
Disclaimer: I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of jcpenney and received a jcpenney Secret Santa gift and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
I’ve always liked JCP
