I’ve heard lots of great things about doing a body detox – mainly helping the body to cleanse itself of toxins such as heavy metals or pollutants. However, I was hesitant to take the plunge because many detox systems require fasting as well and right now, I look food too much to even think about fasting for two weeks.
I was very excited to learn about the Jillian Michaels Triple Process Total Body Detox & Cleanse plus Probiotic Replenishment system. Now, before I get into the actual review, I want to emphasize that this post is just sharing my own opinion and experience with the system. I am not a doctor and therefore have absolutely no medical background or experience when I make these statements, so please consult with your own physician if you have any questions. Also note that many of the statements made on the website, which I may post here, have not been evaluated by the FDA. With that said, let’s move on.
Jillian Michaels (think the insanely buff trainer from The Biggest Loser) has launched an entire line of weight-loss products to help people achieve their health and fitness goals. I was given the option to try out her Triple Process Total Body Detox & Cleanse plus Probiotic Replenishment and took the opportunity mainly because it would offer the benefits of detoxing with having to fast. Yay!
I opened up the box and was amazed that it was just three small packages of pills and a piece of paper. Included with the Detox & Cleanse system is a free 7-day trial membership to the Jillian Michaels online weight-control and fitness plan, two packages of purple pills (28 pills total) that are the detox and cleanse MetaCaps, and one package of pink pills (7 pills total) that are the Probiotic MetaCaps. The instructions say to take two purple pills mornings and evenings for one week, then one pink pill in the mornings for a week. It seemed easy enough, so after reading the instructions, my first ever detox and cleanse started. Here’s a brief diary of my pill popping experience:
Day 1: 7:30AM – First two pills of the detox & cleanse. 8:30AM – I have no idea why, but I am STARVING! I decide to grab a bagel with my morning ‘bucks. So glad I still get to eat during detox. 6:00pm – I’m starving again, but just pop a hand full of peanuts until dinner after Fellowship.
Day 2: 7:45AM – 2 more purple pills. Not as hungry. My skin looks like it’s clearing up. Is that an expected side-effect of detox? 11:00AM – I won’t go into details, but I think the “cleansing” has officially begun. 6:00PM – Two more pills with a full glass of water, then time for dinner.
Day 3: I slept through my alarm. Fortunately, I have a back-up system – two cats who like to be fed by 8:00AM every morning. I wake up and I’m starving. 8:00AM – 2 purple pills and I grab a yogurt to-go.
Day 6: 10:15AM – I let myself sleep in this morning so I’m taking the purple pills a little later. One things I’ve noticed since starting the Detox & Cleanse is that I’m a LOT hungrier.
Day 7: 8:00PM – I just took my last two purple pills. There has been a lot of “cleansing” going on – pretty regularly since Day 2. It makes me feel like my body is really getting rid of stuff that might have been stuck somewhere in the intestines. If that’s actually what’s happening – I have no clue. My skin still looks like it’s been clearing up. Pink pills start tomorrow.
Day 8: 8:25 AM First pink pill going down the hatch. The pink pills are the Probiotic MetaCaps which are meant to help “replenish the good bacteria” in your digestive system.
Day 9 – 13: I’m visiting the family for the holidays, but I’m still taking my one pink pill in the mornings…although then it was technically three hours late since it was on PST instead of EST. In general, I’m not noticing the same hungriness or the same “cleansing” that I had while taking the purple pills.
Day 14: 12:00PM – I slept in today so I didn’t take my final pill until noon. I have just completed the Jillian Michaels Triple Process Total Body Detox & Cleanse plus Probiotic Replenishment. Do I get a certificate or a plaque or something?
After completing the Jillian Michaels Triple Process Total Body Detox & Cleanse Plus Probiotic Replenishment, I’ve decided that I would definitely like to make this a regular part of my health routine. Not frequently – probably every 3 or 4 months. Why? Because during the detox and cleanse, I DEFINITELY felt like that is exactly what was happening. Most of the things that the website says the system does, I can’t measure, but one of the statements they make is that you will “feel lighter and more energized” and that’s definitely something that I felt. It seemed like I had more energy and that my body was purging staleness out of it. That’s probably why I was getting so hungry – because I was emptying out of some really bad body gunk (an official scientific term – haha!) which left room for healthier and fresher food and nutrients.
In addition, the system is also formulated to help:
- Reduce Belly Bloat*
- Reduce Body Waste Buildup Without Harsh Chemical Laxatives or Fasting*
- Support Colon and Digestive System*
- Support the Liver’s Natural Detoxification Process*
*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
It’s also good to know that I didn’t seem to have any negative side effects from taking the system, other than a few extra trips to the bathroom (but who’s counting.) This may be because most of the ingredients seem to be natural. The majority of the ingredients are some sort of powder or extract from plants. Knowing that I’m not ingesting any harsh chemicals as part of the cleansing process is a big plus for me.
