Even though I’m half-Asian, and it’s almost blasphemous to not like tea, I’m not the hugest fan out there. If I drink tea at a restaurant, it’s usually because I’ve drunk all of my ice water and am thirsty and need ANYTHING to drink. I have a couple of teas that I’ll “suffer” through, but I have even more boxes of tea in my cupboard that I bought trying to be optimistic and thinking “oh, I might like this” but never liking it. Why do I give you all of this background? So you’ll know that when I like a tea it’s because it’s UBER GOOD.
Kusmi Tea’s Sweet Love is UBER GOOD. It’s funny that I use the word “uber” because that’s German and Kusmi Tea originated in Russia. But I don’t know the Russian word for good, so UBER it is. Getting back to Kusmi Tea. Kusmi Tea originated with master tea blender Pavel Kousmichoff 140 years ago. Using a variety of tea leaves and different flavors, Kusmi Tea offers green tea, black teas, herbal teas, and many other different flavors of tea on their website – www.kusmitea.com.
The sample of Kusmi Tea Sweet Love I got came in a cute tea tin (some flavors are available in tea bags too) and is described as an “exquisite spicy blend that stimulates the senses.” The fragrant is utterly delicious. You can smell the licorice and spices all blended together to make a scent that is strong, but not too powerful, and interestingly has a bit of a “kick” to it from the pepper. What I love is that the smells tantalize my olfactory sense, but the flavor of the actual tea is much more subtle. You can detect the black tea and also the peppery flavor. I noticed that if I inhaled with my nose just before taking a sip, the licorice flavor popped out a little more. As I kept sipping the tea, I was able to taste the pink pepper, and a subtle sweetness started to emerge. The tea does have an aftertaste that lingers in the mouth, but it’s a very pleasant, sweet, and light flavor – one that wouldn’t be embarrassing if that’s how my breath actually smelled.
Kusmi Teas are available for purchase on www.kusmitea.com or through amazon.com. If you like teas, I highly recommend that you try Kusmi Teas. The flavors of Kusmi Tea Sweet Love were wonderful to taste and if the other teas follow suit, it will be a tea-drinking experience you won’t want to miss.
