You might be familiar with the more “mainstream” methods of holding ice cream, such as ice cream cones or waffle bowls. But what you might not be familiar with is a way to hold ice cream that involves a Japanese food that’s been around for thousands of years – mochi. Mochi is a sweet rice dough and My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream is wrapping ice cream in mochi to bring us perfectly portioned and delicious ice cream you can hold.
My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream consists of a scoop of creamy, premium ice cream wrapped in a soft rice dough. Mochi is naturally sticky so the dough is dusted with flour to prevent it from sticking to the container, or your fingers, as you enjoy your ice cream. The mochi doesn’t have a flavor (at least not that I could tell.) The mochi has a chewy texture when you first bite into it. Then, it slowly melts away as you enjoy the ice cream. Here’s a fun fact, Mochi ice cream was invented by Frances Hashimoto, a Japanese-American businesswoman and activist.
My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream is available in 8 scrumptious flavors: Salted Caramel, Vanilla Bean, Mint Chocolate Chip, Sweet Mango, Ripe Strawberry, Cookies & Cream, Green Tea, and Double Chocolate. We had the opportunity to try Ripe Strawberry, Mint Chip, and Double Chocolate. My/Mo also offers Non-Dairy and Vegan Mochi Ice Cream that is made using cashew cream.
All three of the flavors we tried were delicious. The mochi dough is chewy, but not too thick, which adds an interesting texture to the ice cream. The ice cream inside the mochi was definitely high quality. My/Mo’s Ripe Strawberry Mochi tasted like fresh strawberries. The Mint Chocolate Chip mochi ice cream had the perfect blend of cooling mint flavor with pops of chocolate. The My/Mo Double Chocolate Mochi Ice Cream was rich and decadent without being too sweet.
I really like that I can just grab a My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream from the freezer, walk back to my desk, and enjoy. No scoops, no bowls, no spoons, no drips, and no clean-up. So convenient! Next time the kiddo wants some ice cream? Save some time, hand them a My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream ball, and send them on their way. Having a party? Throw out a party tray of different mochi ice cream flavors so everyone can grab their own mochi! It’s easy to enjoy My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream as a quick snack or an after-meal dessert.
