Sometimes children don’t want to go to bed. They can be dog tired, cranky, and with droopy eyelids, but if you say, “Time for bed!” You’ll hear “no! I want to stay up!” Of course, there are those favorite bedtimes stories, like Goodnight Moon or Where the Wild Things Are, but may you want to change things up a little bit. That’s when you’ll want to check out the wonderful collection of lullabies from the Over The Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project.
A Must-have Lullaby Collection
Review by WiC Chick Natalie (with some comments/edits by The WiC Project)
As a new parent, many things can be overwhelming, mostly due to the pure exhaustion we all feel from interrupted sleep. I found it very hard at the end of the day to help my child fall asleep when I myself could easily fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. So it is always nice to have help, whether it is from a friend, your mother or a one-of-a-kind, CD and hardcover book of beautiful lullabies.
Over the Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project, conceived and created by Kate Dawson and Jodi Glucksman is a CD and book combination of 17 light and lovely original songs written and performed by leading Broadway composers, lyricists, and performers including the beautiful voice of Vanessa Williams. The accompanying book has beautiful artwork to compliment the songs created by some of the greatest illustrators and theatre designers. It is also available as a 26 song double CD or an eBook, which also has 26 songs with illustrations..
Enjoy relaxing songs such as Poppy the Bear who just wants to play games with her friends all day, sung beautifully by Janet Dacal. Or the adorable story Onsie about a little baby who came a little premature and could barely fit inside the smallest onsie of all. Sung by Michael Cerveris. My favorite was the song called Winding Down to Sleep which is instrumental. I have always had a love for instrumentals and enjoy the story music alone can sometimes tell. This melodic almost operatic CD will delight and surprise you in all sorts of ways.
This must have lullaby collection is perfect for any new parent, with its soothing music, a perfect night time ritual to help calm and sooth your baby to sleep. Over the Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project also makes a great gift, with all proceeds benefit breast cancer research, support and education. Sign-up for the official Over the Moon newsletter, and you’ll receive a free MP3 of “Lucky” sung by Donna Murphy.
