Cell phones have already become more than just telephones. They’re extensions of our computers and laptops, in a sense. We use them to check emails, surf the web, and update our social networks. The new Windows 8 Phones seem to have been designed with just that type of use in mind.
I’ve been using my new HTC Windows Phone 8X for the past month or so, and I’m continually impressed by how much I can do on this phone. Not only does it have the “standard” smart phone features, but I can also use Microsoft Office (yes, Office – as in creating Word Docs, filling out Excel sheets, the works.)

My Windows Phone 8X Start Screen
Here’s a shot of my Windows 8 Phone start screen, where I added my most-used social networks at the top using the smaller icons. Then I have my phone and camera functions as medium icons, with the time a big icon so it’s easier to spot the time.
So you can see how much you can rearrange and change the Start Screen, I put together this little video showing some of the things you can do.
From surfing the web, to taking pictures and videos, to chatting with friends, the Windows 8 Phone can be everything you would want your phone to be.
How would you customize your start screen? What apps would you have?

Ive been hearing a lot of good reviews of windows phone but I just hate the brand
I so want one of these phones. I have Windows 8 on my Surface tablet and am hooked!
Nice video! The live tile rearrangement looks like a lot of fun.
I like this phone, I need to update mine – I have an old Windows phone I love. 🙂
I just missed the windows 8 function when I got my new phone! Oh well maybe I’ll catch Windows 9 with my next one!
I would probably arrange my home screen with the essentials: e-mail, twitter, calendar, camera, internet search page, etc!
I really want an Windows HTC phone now!

I reviewed the Windows 8 phone as well and loved how you could personalize it. Awesome review!
I love my windows phone, very cool!
I want a new Windows phone. No, wait, an iPhone. On 3rd thought a Windows phone – I am so confused because they are both so great and I don’t have a phone at all right now. What to do, what to do….
I have an old simple phone, but this looks really neat. Maybe someday I will spring for the update!
I was promised an iPhone for Mother’s Day and I am very excited at the prospect. Right now I have just a regular phone
This seems really cool once you get down to it and know what you are doing. I was trying to help my sister with her new Windows 8 machine and we were both thoroughly confused!
I am in the market for a new cell phone, so I am glad I found this review. I really don’t know what type I want to go with, iPhone, android, or Windows. Too many to choose from. But all I had heard so far was bad stuff on the Windows phone. I am glad to find someone that is actually using it and is happy. Gives me something to think about. Thanks for the review..
