I know brooms can be a great cleaning tool, but since the first Swiffer came out, I’ve been a Swiffer fan. I found that while traditional brooms are great for sweeping up larger pieces of dirt, there always seemed to be a small amount of smaller particles of dirt that seemed to refuse to be swept up. Swiffer was the solution. It easily came in behind the broom to pick up the finer dirt that the broom missed. Unfortunately, that meant a two-step floor cleaning system – blech!
Fortunately, Swiffer has come to the rescue with the new Swiffer Sweep & Trap. From gravel to dust, the Swiffer Sweep & Trap cleans it all quickly, and easily. The Swiffer Sweep & Trap consists of a two-part system. The first is the rotating beater blades, which roll as you push the Swiffer and scoop up the larger dirt pieces. As you keep pushing the Swiffer, the familiar Swiffer dry cloth system follows behind to pick up the smaller dirt.
We decided to put the Swiffer to the test – infomercial style – with some nuts and bolts and wood chips on our hard wood floor. Let’s see how it worked:
I was very impressed by how well the Swiffer Sweep & Trap picked up the heavy and awkward shaped bolts, as well as the lighter wood chips. In the video, I only went back and forward, but the Swiffer can still easily maneuver left and right. I did notice that for the larger messes, “swiffing” a little slower helps pick up the pieces quicker. Even better, the Swiffer Sweep & Trap proved to me that it could handle the types of clean-up jobs I would normally reserve for a broom – but without needing a dustpan.
The larger pieces of dirt get scooped into a dirt trap located at the top of the Swiffer. No bending down to hold the dustpan while you sweep or having to try to hold the dustpan in place while you sweep. The dirt trap can easily be removed and emptied into the trash can. The dry cloth picks up and traps the leftover dust, so you just toss the cloth when you’re done.
If you want to ditch a two-step sweeping process and want to try the new Swiffer Sweep & Trap, you can find it at your local Walmart or you can buy the Swiffer Sweep & Trap online at walmart.com for $19.97.

cool–you know how much I love Swiffer!
These just seem so wasteful to me. Not recycleable or anything.
Wow I didn’t know that it would pick up so well. I really like it. We usually sweep and then run a dust mop on the wood floors. The Swiffer would take out a step. Now that I like.
