Even as an adult, I don’t always look forward to brushing my teeth. It’s not a particularly “fun” thing, as in no one ever sits around thinking “I wish I could brush my teeth more – it’s so much fun!” Even though sometimes it’s just another thing we have to do, as adults we diligently brush twice a day for two minutes in an up and down motion (not side to side – tsk, tsk!) When it comes to kids, though, sometimes it’s a bit harder. There are plenty of tooth care items for young kids, such as the Oral-B Stages products we reviewed earlier. However there was a gap in tooth care products between the ages of 8 and adult (or kids old enough to think they’re adults.) Crest and Oral-B have recently launched a line of oral care products just for kids 8 years and older, aka “tweens”, called Pro-Health FOR ME by Crest and Oral-B.
About Pro-Health FOR ME from Crest and Oral-B
Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health FOR ME is the first and only complete line of oral care products for tweens (kids 8+) created to protect the areas dentist check in kids, in the flavors and designs older children will like.
Parents want to help their kids establish healthy routines, however at this stage in development, tweens have their own tastes and style and it can be difficult at times for parents and their kids to see eye-to-eye. Pro-Health FOR ME provides trusted oral care products that tweens will want to use, with the oral care benefits moms want for their kids. With Pro-Health FOR ME, there’s finally something you can both agree on!
The Pro-Health FOR ME line includes toothbrushes that are just the right size for older kids’ mouths, toothpaste and rinse flavors designed for tweens and floss picks that are easy to use and mess-free – all in unique packaging that’s cool enough for tweens!
The Pro-Health FOR ME product line includes Vibrating or CrossAction toothbrushes, a Fluoride Anticavity toothpaste, an Anticavity Fluoride rinse, and Floss picks.
All of the products have a fun and unique design on them that’s more mature than for young kids but not as plain as for adults. The colors and designs of the toothbrush actually were big hits with WiC Chick Jennifer’s kids, who both said they liked the color of their toothbrushes and thought the products were fun and liked the design.
While it’s one thing to look good, it’s also important for the target audience to actually WANT to use the product. Jennifer’s son and daughter, both of tween age, agreed to help test out the new Pro-Health FOR ME product line.
The Oral-B Pro-Health FOR ME toothbrushes come in blue, green (and pink for CrossAction) which gives the kids a choice for which color they preferred. The handle of the toothbrush is specially sized to fit a tween’s hand and the bristles are soft for gentle cleaning.
When it came to the toothpaste, both kids commented that the flavor of the toothpaste was just right. It wasn’t too minty or too sweet.
The mouthwash came with it’s own cup for rinsing, which the kids really loved. It is alcohol free and helps fight cavities and strengthen teeth enamel. The big change for Jennifer was that her kids actually were willing to use the mouthwash since it made their mouth feel clean without being too strong.
Finally, the kids thought the flossers were better than regular dental floss because they are easier to use and were gentler on their teeth.
Overall, the Pro-Health FOR Me oral care product line by Crest and Oral-B came out with two thumbs up from our testers, who though the products were fun to use and appreciated that the products were made just for them. But the satisfaction didn’t end with the kids. Jennifer says, “I liked that my kids did not complain about mouthwash or toothpaste being too strong. I will be buying more of the Pro-Health products for both of my kids in the future.”
