Summer usually brings a lot of travel – whether it’s a family vacation or quick business trips, sometimes we head out on the road for a couple of days, leaving friends and family at home. One of the tricks we’ve learned to help stay connected is to use Skype.
Skype is such a convenient (and low cost, if not free) way to keep in touch with loved ones. From sending a quick text message to let people know you’ve arrived at your destination or setting up a video call. If your smart phone has access to a 4G network, you can connect to each other via the Skype App and stream video as you’re walking around your vacation spot. Alternately, you can also hook up your Sony Bloggie and livestream video of your vacation to folks back home. It’s such a great way to give the family a little taste of your vacation.
Not only is it for sharing, but it can also help calm and soothe kids who might not be used to you being away or who aren’t used to being away from home. If you’re gone, you can still connect with them via Skype for a bedtime story or a quick call before they head off to school. Also, if they’re travelling with you, they can have fun being on the other side of the camera, sharing their vacation experiences with grandparents or friends.

Disclaimer: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Skype. I received Skype credits to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
