Easter is in just a few days. For Christians, Easter is about the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For many others, Easter is the holiday that heralds the coming of Spring. Whether you’re faith-based or not, Easter can still be a time for families to come together and celebrate life.
Beyond the honoring of Christ and His resurrection, one of my favorite things about Easter is the egg hunt. What I didn’t realize was that the Easter bunny was originally thought to be a “judge” between good kids and bad kids. The bunny would hop to a child’s home and, if they were good, would leave gifts, candy, or eggs behind to reward them. As a child, my favorite part was finding the eggs. As an adult, watching kids hunt for, discover, and open the hidden eggs is always entertaining.
I get a kick out of hiding Easter eggs. I’d say it’s something about finding that perfect balance for a well-hidden egg. It can’t be TOO obvious but also can’t be too hard to find for a child. Brightly colored eggs help ensure that most of the eggs are found. Plastic eggs help ensure that you don’t have an un-found rotten egg left in the house or the yard.
I usually stuff plastic eggs with candies. As we are making healthier food decisions, I’m finding that I’m looking for a different type of candy than just chocolates (although those are good too.) One of my favorite sweet treats are from YumEarth – the #1 organic company in the US. You may recall that we’ve shared YumEarth a few times here.
YumEarth has a variety of sweets that are perfect for Easter than are a healthier choice for the kids (and adults.) Every serving of YumEarth, whether you’re enjoying their Organic Gummy Bears or the YumEarth Naturals Sour Beans, provides 100% of the daily recommend amount of Vitamin C for 70 calories or less.
Not only does YumEarth use natural and organic ingredients, their candies are free of artificial colors or flavors and are gluten-free, nut-free, and dairy-free. I’ve enjoyed their unique flavors, like their pomegranate pucker or mango tango lollipops. What surprised me the most about YumEarth were their sour beans. While I love jelly beans, I’m not the hugest sour candy fan so you KNOW these sour beans are good when I’m eating 2 or 3 bags at a time. (Seriously. One bag just isn’t enough.)
YumEarth candies are a great treat to hide in your Easter eggs. I think the YumEarth Naturals Sour Beans even look like little “mini-eggs” and the colors are perfect for spring. You can stock up on YumEarth candies at your local Walgreens or one of many other stores nationwide. You can also buy YumEarth online on Amazon.
