The Christmas Chronicles is a family-friendly adventure comedy debuting on Netflix this holiday season. Kurt Russell plays Santa unlike any Santa before, while he has a beard and red coat with a pocket full of candy canes, he’s not jolly and doesn’t have the iconic belly. He can go down the chimney by turning into magic dust, his powers come from his hat, and the reindeer need their bells buckled to fly. Santa’s sleigh is sleek and sporty, the reindeer are superfast, and wait till you see Santa driving a muscle car. Kurt Russell brings his own brand of comic relief to Santa, and you’ll hear him sing, “Santa Claus is Back in Town.”
It’s Kate and Teddy’s first Christmas after their dad passed away. It’s even harder when Kate and Teddy are left alone on Christmas Eve, because their mom has to work. Kate hatches a plan to catch Santa, and when it works, catastrophe strikes–Santa’s sleigh is left wrecked. Christmas is left in peril as long as the sleigh is out of commission, so the kids and Santa work together. But not before they end up in jail. It’s quite an homage to Adventures in Babysitting and Home Alone. This encounter and hijinks with Santa was just what Kate and Teddy needed for Christmas.
The Christmas Chronicles puts a fresh twist on the tale of Santa Claus with a lot of action and special-effects to help move the story along. Entertaining and heartwarming, this movie delivers on fun with a lot of adventure in between each town as they race to save Christmas! For everyone who believes in Santa, this new take on Santa will give you the Christmas spirit you want this season.
The Christmas Chronicles premieres on Netflix, November 22, 2018!
