I remember going to the local arcade and watching with awe as people spun, jumped, and jiggied their way to high scores on the dance games. I’m sure many of them had the game at home and practiced for hours before making their public appearances, but that didn’t make the show any less entertaining. Fortunately for us, with The Smurfs Dance Party for Wii, we can have just as much fun in the comfort of our own homes.
About The Smurfs Dance Party
The Review
As soon as you turn on The Smurfs Dance Party for Wii, your toe starts tapping. Whether you’re young or old, watching those blue Smurfs dance makes you want to dance too.
There are three ways to play The Smurfs Dance Party for Wii.
- Dance – You can randomly play or select songs to dance and boogie to.
- Story – Papa Smurf leads you on a story of their trip to NYC with illustrative “dance breaks” in between scenes.
- Playlists – You can choose a collection of songs to dance to while collecting “smurf berries.”
Once you start the dance, the music starts and you’ll see one of your favorite smurfs start dancing. Hold the Wii controller and then dance along to the music. Small orange men will appear at the bottom of the screen to help you with the dance steps, but mostly you’ll just start following the moves of the Smurfs. A lot of the moves get repeated a couple of times so you’ll have a lot of fun flubbing and then will have even more fun as you get used to the moves. Expect lots of laughter. 🙂
A lot of the songs are “remakes” of popular songs most of us are familiar with – “Smurf This Way”, “Who Let the Smurfs Out” and “Mr. Smurftastic.” Some of the songs are a little more mainstream, so while this is rated E for everyone, there are some mild lyrics – just be aware if you have very young kids. Fortunately, you can select the songs they can dance to by playing via Playlists. There are also built in parent features that allow you to see how long your child has been playing each day, how many calories were burned, and which levels were unlocked.
I was surprised at how much fun even the adults had playing The Smurfs Dance Party. I found myself just turning it on for 20 minutes as a fun way to get moving and burn a few extra calories.
If you and your family are looking for a fun and entertaining Wii game, definitely check out The Smurfs Dance Party. It will get you moving, laughing, and having a party! The Smurfs Dance Party is available for purchase online from stores such as Amazon.com for $29.99.

looks cute
This game looks so fun! Now I’m wondering whether I should have bought a wii instead of a kinect!
It is a LOT of fun. I haven’t played on the Kinect yet – is that the one that detects all of your movements without a controller?
my kids LOVE this game!
