I remember reading Tintin comic books when I was younger. I was enthralled by the book-style comic that followed Tintin through his many adventures. With the latest release of “The Adventures of Tintin” on DVD, the excitement of Tintin comes to life for the entire family to enjoy.
About “The Adventures of Tintin”
The Review
“The Adventures of Tintin” is an incredibly fun movie to watch. It begins with Tintin discovering a model ship, the Unicorn, which holds a secret. What kind of secret? That’s what Tintin needs to find out. Unfortunately, just as he begins his search, his apartment is ransacked and the model ship stolen. This begins 106 minutes of the Tintin adventures we grew up reading. As the mystery ensues, Tintin meets Captain Haddock, Thomson & Thompson, and other familiar characters.
From the moment the movie began, I was completely caught up in the story. A combination of three Tintin books (The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn, and Red Rackham’s Treasure), there is plenty of comedy, action, adventure, and mystery to satisfy even the most fidgety kids. The movie successfully captured all of the excitement and mystery that Tintin adventures are known for. Watching the movie was like watching the comic books come to life and it was thrilling to see.
The characters in the movie were brilliantly animated versions of what we would see in the books, and Snowy was just as clever as ever. “The Adventures of Tintin” was filmed using motion capture animation, which I think looks like “realistic animation.” The characters look almost like real people, but still preserve a hint of animation which maintains that “comic book” feel. I must give a nod to the actors who brilliantly conveyed the essence of each character.
If you are a Snowy fan or grew up watching Tintin, or if you like fun, mystery movies, then “The Adventures of Tintin” is a must-have for your movie collection. “The Adventures of Tintin” is available for purchase on Blu-ray ($22.99) and DVD ($16.99.)
