When I was younger, I studied classical piano for over 10 years. I practiced “every day” (*yeah, right*) and attended lessons every weekend. There were recitals, competitions, and performances. More recently, I’ve had the hankering to learn how to play guitar.
I know some people are able to learn music on their own, but others prefer a more structured or more formal music training. However find the right music teacher isn’t always easy. How do you know they’re qualified? How do you know you’ll like them? What if their teaching style doesn’t work? TakeLessons.com offers an innovative way to help you find a music instructor and learn music – whether it’s in your home, in a music studio, or online.
TakeLessons.com taps their network of private music teachers, art instructors, and tutors throughout the US to provide music lessons on everything from the mandolin to the cello. Their certified teachers are pre-screened and vetted through skill assessments, interviews, reference checks, and background checks. You can use the TakeLessons.com “Search for a Teacher” tool to find a teacher near you or to find an online instructor. The price of your lessons will vary based on your location and the length of your lesson.
I decided to check out the options for learning guitar online. I really liked how they offer so much information about the instructors and their backgrounds. You can also read reviews from other students and view the availability for online lessons for each instructor. For online music training, all you need is a webcam, Skype, and the internet – so convenient!

Never thought about learning this on the internet. Could be useful.
That is a really neat idea, no driving anywhere to take the kids to lessons!
My granddaughter has expressed a desire to learn to play piano or guitar. I am going to let her try the lessons and see if she is really interested. So easy, no driving anywhere and can do it on your own time schedule
My sister took piano lessons and I learned to play from watching her and practicing.
Missed the sale, but I’m checking out the site anyway. I really like the reviews, so you can find a perfect match. How convenient!
I have a family member that has used this to find a piano instructor for piano lessons locally. It is a great way to find teachers when you are not familiar where to begin your search. It has worked out well so far.
I wish there was a new promotional sale going on, because I myself would love to play a few different instruments (still deciding which one) and would love to find the best teacher to help me reach that goal.
Missed this sale already but this is something to look into. I use to try the piano but always like the guitar but couldnt see to do it . Now Im to old to try any of them but my grandkids love music . thanks for the info
