One of the things I don’t understand is how, in a world where we can eliminate diseases, do we still have so many people who have to battle cancer? Is it lack of funds? Lack of research? Lack of understanding? I don’t know. But what I do know is that cancer is something people can survive.
Cancer is something that many of us are familiar with – whether it’s through someone we know who has fought the fight, or through being a survivor. There are hundreds, thousands, millions of people who have suffered from and overcome cancer. Each year is a celebration of their life. Each birthday a celebration another year of being a conqueror.
The American Cancer Society is leading the fight for more birthdays in the face of cancer, through funding more research, helping patience get treatment, finding cures, or just being there as a support. “Thanks in part to our work, 11 million cancer survivors will celebrate another birthday this year.” That’s a whole lot of birthdays!
